My Lite-On Internal Dual DVD does not recognise any CD. It keeps asking to insert a disc in my destination drive. It does however, recognise a DVD. My checks conclude that it's the best available driver. I have uninstalled & re-installed both Nero & Cyberlink Power DVD. Nothing has changed.

The dvd lens might just be too weak to read cd's

1.if you have a lens cleaner, try using this for some time then run cd's to see if this will resolve it

2. make sure the cd's are in good condition,neat and readable

Try a 'quickiee', While the power is OFF! disconnect the cables or cable to the duel dvd,[IDE (long 26 pin) & power] turn on computer, goto to control panel >system icon>system properties>Hardware>device manager>DVD\CD-rom Drives. NOTE:: you should see ONE instance of your CD\DVD drive, REMOVE it.Turn computer off., RECONNECT the power & ide cables to the dvd. Turn power on, the computer SHOULD see your hardware, if it don't, It could be semi-damaged,or internattance [sometimes is, sometimes not working]
