I have a DCP-130C. A few months ago it came up on LCD and PC with "Ink empty (black) and 3 others near empty" I changed the black. Message stayed the same. I then changed all. Message still the same. I tried everything Borther suggested. Nothing. About to take for service when I tried one last time switching on and off again. Bingo. LCD and PC said ink full and did a clean. A few days ago the power chord was pulled out of side of printer. When turned back on exactly the same message as before came back even though I had barely used any ink. I have upgraded firmware. I have even taken all cartridges out and left off for days. When I turn it back on it doesn't even know there are no cartidges just says exactly same message. For some reason it keeps going back to original message when I changed the black. It there any way to reset the memory or whatever. Please help.

Sounds like you have an unhappy printer with power issues...you'll need to remove all the software, go to this link, and get fresh drivers, re install.

well..let's see...methinks you have a bad or unhappy power source, either internal past the receptacle, or from the power supply itself. Would be simplest to test the power supply for voltage, eh?

    got a voltmeter?

  • Anonymous Apr 21, 2008

well..then..you may just need to replace the power source, or the printer, or call a qualified tech into troubleshoot it.

Hi There, I have a brother DCP-130c printer and one of the colour ink has run out. I need to be able to print with just black. Is there a way to print without replacing colour ink?

When you click on print, click on print preferences. As shown in image below.

shreysri_2.png
On the preferences window click on Paper Quality tab and click on black and white. As shown below.

Click on OK and then click on print.

Note: Few new printers wont print till you replace the empty cartridges.

Regards,
Shrey

I have replaced my empty ink cartrages, but when i have put in the new ones, the screen still comes up with they are empty please replace, how can i solve this problem. this is for a brother dcp-130c

two possibilities, first check to make sure the inks are really there. take the cartridges out and look at the little plastic window on the cartridge and see if you see ink. if you dont, you will need to get a new cartridge again, if you do see the ink, most likely the sensor board is damaged. Usually this damaged because of generic ink.

thanks

I use to refill my brother dcp-130c printer cartridge.but now it shows black cartridge empty also colour cartridges near empty..after I purchace new black cartridge also same messahe appears..pls help me...

the electronic on your printer, the one that detects the black cartridge might be dirty, try cleaning it with some tissue. if that doesn't work, try removing the installation of your printer and then install it back again. if you have any other black cartridge, put it in the printer and try printing. If a page comes out, even if it's blank, then it's the black cartridge that has an issue. try that and let me know.

Not printing

  • If you replaced an ink cartridge before the LCD shows Near Empty or Ink Empty, the LCD will ask you to verify that it was a brand new one. (For example, Did You Change Blck?) For each new cartridge you installed, press up navigation key or 1 or "+" to select Yes to automatically reset the ink dot counter for that color. If the ink cartridge you installed is not a brand new one, be sure to press the down navigation key or 2 or "-" to select No.

  • Here is the manual, you can download it and go to the routine maintenance section.

Brother DCP-130C refuses to print the magenta ink

If you don't print at least once a month, you will clog the machine. You unfortunately have to get it fixed by a professional or get a new printer. Sorry!
