Hitachi 46 in. projection tv - no power

TV would shut off after a couple of minutes. I was able to turn back on by remote/or power button on front of tv. After 5 minutes, it would shut off again. Not the tv won't power on at all. No sound, no click, nothing. The nearest service shop is 40 miles away. Any advice would be greatly appreicated. It worked well for the 16 yrs. we have had it. I would like to repair and keep it. Thanks again.

TV will not turn off with remote or manually

That means that you either need to buy a replacement remote (or use an universal remote) , or you need to replace the TV IR sensor, that is a small board located inside tv.

TV will not turn off with remote or manual have to unplugged

I suspect the unit might need service. If it were only the remote, new batteries would, of course, be in order. But that part about the manual power button being ineffective suggests something else is affecting the set. Sorry.

Chirping noise and flashing front power light.

Theres a short somewhere in the set. Most likly the HOT is shorted or the vertical IC has caused this in the past. In one case I had shorted convergence IC cause this symptom.. This set is solid state and there are no user serviceable parts inside so please call a trained tech to assist you with this problem Good Luck
