Rear end clunk when accelerating and going into second gear and reversing

if this noise wasn`t there before the wheel bearing was replaced and only showed up afterwards then its a defective wheel bearing.shops have this problem from time to time when a cheap qaulity bearing is used as they are not made to the same specs as a qaulity bearing, also have the cv joint checked on the same side as it could have a problem from changing the bearing for what ever the reason.the joint may have moved more than normal when its installed in the car.strange things happen at times.

Kia Rio 2002 stopped on freeway

Some manufactures offer extended warranty, check to see if yours is current. It sounds very serious, I suspect that the timing chain/belt has come off, the clunk you hear is the piston moving up to hit an open valve, don't try turning it anymore untill a mechanic can confirm, I have seen a valve crack a piston from them trying to crank it with a broken timing chain. I'm sorry to bear the bad news, Hope I'm wrong, let me know what happens. Good luck

1998 dodge neon front disc brakes

Does your car have rear disc brakes? If so, it is likely a failure of the emergency brake that is inside the rear disc.

CAR WONT START

sounds like your timing belt let go..ther is a rubber plug in top of timing belt cover..remove it and see if camshaft sprocket is turning..if not, belt broke..more than likely valve or piston damage

When i start my jimmy it makes a clunking noice and when i shut it off but when i is running and driveing it doesnt make that noice

Sounds as if your ignition timing is off... Could be in need of adjustment, a vacuum advance line is off or broken to the distributor, or worse, your timing chain - belt has slipped a tooth...

When i put it in reverse it makes a loud clunk

Hi Ali,

This sounds like one or more of your motor/powerplant mounts is broken. Here is an easy test:

Have someone sit in the driver's sear with engine running and trans. in Park.
You stand in front with the hood open. Have them shift from Park to Reverse, and then Drive and back to Reverse and Park, taking time to stay in each gear and give some throttle while holding the brake pedal tight. This will rock or move the engine a certain amount as they shift through the gears and apply power lightly. It will move alot more violently with broken mounts.

If you have a clunking noise on Reverse shifts, you should be able reproduce this with the hood up and pinpoint the noise and/or sight the faulty motor mount with a friend's help. Good luck, I hope this puts you on the right track to fixing this annoying noise.

Sincerely, Tater Todd

Oil pressure light on at idle

Don't delay on this. Take the vehicle in and have the oil pressure sensor checked. It could be just the sensor or it could be something more serious. A drop in oil pressure could lead to catastrophic engine failure.
