Keyboard curser bounces around

I bought my acer laptop new about a month ago. From day one, I have been so frustrated when I type! My curser jumps backwords, will land in the middle of another word, or completely disappear. I spent this much time because I thought maybe it was a setting, because I was unfamiliar with Vista, or because I had put in Open Office, and maybe there was a conflict. But now, after trying to find some sort of logic to what makes it go where when, I am sure something is broken! It happens in my email, anywhere. It's actually an Acer 5720-4126

I have the same exact problem. In fact it is even hard to type this message. Did you figure out how to fix it?

I have ACER Aspire 4720 and have the same problem. The touch pad is too sensitive. In Linux there is a fix to disable touchpad while typing, in XP I have not heard of a solution.

I tried looking for the Synaptics or equivalent device tool, but no luck.

    I would appreciate the solution.

I have exactly the same problem with my Acer Aspire 5720. Cannot disable it from the control panel, only uninstall it. Want to smash the bloody thing and drive my truck over it!

Are you bumping the touch pad while you type? This may be causing the curser to move around. This laptop is known for its sensitive touch pad.

Try disabling the "Tap" feature for the touch pad.

While typing on Acer Aspire the typing jumps around constantly...why?

Most of the time disabling the tapping for the touchpad solves the problem. Go to settings and disable the tapping for the touchpad, not the touchpad itself, just the tapping.

Curser jumps around on page

You will need to set the touchpad sensitivity,
Depending on your operating system.
  1. Start Menu
  2. Control Panel
  3. Switch to Classic View
  4. Select Mouse

How can I stop my curser from jumping around whilst typing ?

Hello
Most probably because your 'Touch Pad Mouse' is touched by your palm (hand or something) while you are typing. Avoid contact with the mouse touch pad while typing.
Option 2:
If you have a centre moveable mouse on your laptop, start using it and disable the 'Touch pad mouse'
Best of luck!

Hi,

With my laptop also I had this issue....

But after a spending lots of time I had the cause.......

It is because of the Touchpad...It happend to me because while typing using the keyboard the fingers and palm may touch and move the mouse curser to another location.

Please check is this applys to you.....
