Dyson DC 25 rotating brush doesn't rotate. Vacuum works
Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.
DC25's brush bar is engineered to shut off for protection if something jams it. Once you've checked the cleaner head for obstructions, and removed any threads or hair from around the brush bar, you should be able to reset it:
The brush bar will never rotate when the vacuum is standing upright, so ensure the machine is reclined into the normal vacuuming position before you test it. Once you've reclined it and turned the machine on, try pressing the silver brush control switch (next to the red on/off switch) twice.
I'm confident this will resolve the issue, but if you do need any further help please call our experts directly on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU) so we can provide assistance.
Dyson DC 25 has 2 wires that run down the side (Not the duct intake side) there are 3 screws take off the cap you will see 2 wires make sure the are not burnt out these operate the power bush if there are you will need to bridge them with a new wire if the are good I suggest getting a new head
vacuums and vacuum part
HI, it's Jim from Crucial Vacuum!
If your Dyson DC25 vacuum's brush roll is no longer turning there are two crucial things to check for.
First off lets look at the brush roll itself. Right off the bat is there any noticeable debris caught in it? You're mainly looking for long carpet fibers, or even long strands of hair? If so try using a scissor to cut the blockage away. Then, manually rotate the brush roll to uncover further clogs. When examining your brush roll take note of the condition of the bristles. Are they loose? If so this would be a good time to change your brush roll entirely.
The second part to check would be your Dyson DC25's belt. With use the belt will stretch out, lessening the tension on the brush roller. Lesser tension diminishes the brush roller's turn rate and speed. So if your belt feels loose as well replace that. This could lead to your brush roll not turning entirely. A general rule would be that you're going to want to replace your belt about every 6 months.
