Thanks for the question, mainly you need to purchase windows 7 home from a shop, then its very easy, follow the instructions that come with the product, put the disc in the drive and start the setup.

Do you have the CD for the SMPK8858 ?

Then put the CD into the CD drive or DVD drive of your computer and explore the CD, for the firmware update look under:
\Firmware Upgrade tool\ConsumerUpdate 3.1.2.0\setup.exe
1. explore or double click folder Firmware Upgrade tool
2. explore or double click folder ConsumerUpdate 3.1.2.0
3. run or double click file setup.exe: this will start the installation of the update software on your computer.

After the installation of the setup.exe file, run the firmware update program to start the update for your player.


Most Sylvania players will have a CD provided. When you don't have it, download the driver (a zip file) from Curtis:

After the download unzip the file with WinZip or WinRar:
now look for the firmware installation program under
SYL_SMPK8858_DRIVER \ SMPK8858 \ Firmware Upgrade tool\ConsumerUpdate 3.1.2.0 \ setup.exe
Double click the setup.exe, the same procedure as when using the CD.

try other bootable cd like linux live cd;if they are bootable then the problem lies with ur cd rom;usually laptop have the problem;if the laptop support booting from network;then Remote installation server will do it

First thing you needs to install new windows via boot able CD.
Please do not start installing windows while running ur old windows. i mean please not upgrade ur windows to newer once.

Steps for installing fresh windows :
1. Make bootable win xp disk.
2. Insert Disk into drive and boot ur laptop with CD drive (If unable to boot then change BIOS settings)
3.Setup will automatically detect ur previous version of Windows.Just ignore it and start fresh installation and alll Done.

Open My Computer, Right click on the CD drive icon and click Explore.
When the folder opens look for a icon usually called Setup, or Install, or something similar. May be PSP Setup.
Click it or Double click it and follow instructions.

when your pc is starting, click on DEL to see BiosSetup. In BOOT SEQUENCE, where you can find FLOPPY, MASTER 1, SLAVE 1, MASTER 2 and SLAVE 2, see in SLAVE 1 if your D DRIVE NAME appears or try to select it clicking in ENTER and changing in a hardware list that will show up. If you don't see your D drive's name there, means that it's not working anymore and needs a new one like that.
Normaly, Acer comes with Philips DVD's (about CD players I don't know) and has as variation only the model (example: Philips DVD-R+RW S8441) , wich is the mark that you need to know and search in BIOS SETUP.

First connect your mp3 to your pc[if you have it ]If it asks for drivers then insert the cd in your CD ROM I repeat CD ROM or any other device connected to your pc where a cd can Be inserted.
Install the drivers.

You will have a software in that cd if it is mp3 player utillities then intall it if it is not please don't coz that the best software.Use this software to format,upgrade and add music files to your mp3 and now what else dude ENJOY. ;-)
