I have a 1997 chevy camaro with an scytek astra 777 alarm system installed in it. I recently changed my car battery and my car won't start I have had three mechanics out and they are all stumped we have checked all the fuses, the relays, the battery cables and wires, the starter is good we had it tested and it is getting power from the battery but when you turn the key nothing happens the engine doesn't turn over at all. The last mechanic I had out tried to by pass the starter and the engine rolled over but still wouldn't start any one know what the problem may be? could it be my alarm what is the deal

It ended up being the ignition switch and string of people obviously not worthy of the mechanic title, unknown to me of course until i spoke with a true mechanic who guessed the problem over the phone and sure enough.

SOURCE: My ex changed some fuses

Most likely the higher amp fuses allowed a shorted circuit to contune to function which overheated some wiring and burned the insulation causing the smoke. Yes, you probably will need to replace some wiring. But, first the shorted / overloaded circuit needs to be identified and repaired.

Skytec astra alarm system keeps losing power

The batteries take a lot of power to send and receive data so you should get around 3 to 4 weeks per battery. If this is what you get it is normal.
