Do have any anti-virus software?
Delete all messages from the outbox and sent items. Then turn off your anti-virus. Now, try forwarding a message and see if it would still go straight to the outbox.

In Outlook Express, it continues to send older messages each time you send an e-mail. It also does not include them in the Sent file. What can we do? I just ran a new version of Norton 360 2010. ...

delete the old failed messages out of the outbox.. delete ALL messages from the OUTBOX.. if they have failed previously or are too big they might sit there, then every time you go to send a new one or hit send/recieve to get new ones, it will try to send them again.

good luck

Close Outlook Express.
Do a Search for .dbx files.
Search:
  • Start > Search > For Files or Folders > All files and folders,
In the field for: all or part of the file name
    Key in:
    .dbx

You may need to enable Show Hidden Files and Folders to see the .dbx files.

Outlook express outbox is stuck in 'sending' mode

More than likely, you'll need to delete the outbox.dbx file located in the following location:

C:\Documents and Settings\***you user name***\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{***LONG SET OF NUMBERS}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

You will find the outbox.dbx in that directory.. Delete it, and you're good to go!
