My Imac crashes. 10.6.4, 2 GB ram, 2 GHz core duo. I've started with a clean install and disabled (one by one) all start up apps. Out of the clear blue, the screen will go black & I have to turn it off and reboot. I've done all the maintainence including Diskwarrior, Cocktail, Onyx, HD checks OK as does ram.

When you say "screen goes black," does the computer power down, or is it still operating? Does the sleep light come on? Does it respond to the keyboard and mouse? (Example: press the power button momentarily, wait a few seconds for the "Do you really want to shut down" message to appear, even though you can't see it, then hit the return key to answer "OK," and see if it shuts down.) Does the screen go black or come out of black if you tap the computer?
While your computer is working, go to System Preferences / Desktop & Screen Saver, the Screen Saver tab, click Hot Corners, and set a corner of your screen to Put Display to Sleep. Then next time your screen goes black, mouse your way into that corner, pause a few seconds, then mouse back out and see if your screen returns.

One other test: get an external display and hook it up to the iMac through the display port. When your main display goes out, does the other display also go out? This is probably the diagnostic that will tell you the most about where your problem is. My first suspect is a bad inverter or backlight, which won't affect the other display at all. But if both go out, then you're likely looking at a graphic processor or logic board problem, which is expensive.

My Gateway GT5408 - tower - Core 2 Duo E4300 1.8 GHz - 1 GB - 320 GB, won't come on

Kindly check if the lights are on when u boot up the PC, furthermore, if you have air blower, clean it once, and remove the rams from the ram slots and install again, if u have more than 1 ram installed, install one ram at a time to check if there is any faulty one.

My safari crashes on my laptop after about 10 seconds. I've tried several times. I've also tried to download again. I have a Macbook Pro, OS version 10.5.8, Processor 2.4 GHz, Intel Core 2 Duo,...

The first thing you should try is resetting the PRAM, this can be done by following this guide.

Then use the Finder to view your User/Library/Cookies/ folder, and drag the Cookies.plist file to the trash. now try Safari again.

If that cures the problem, then we know the cookies file was the reason.

Unfortunately you may lose various website settings and passwords, that were stored in the cookies.

If the problem still persists after this I would try calling apple support.
