Second problem first

  • Click Start
  • Click Run
  • Enter gpedit.msc in the Open box and click OK
  • In the Group Policy settings window
    • Select User Configuration
    • Select Administrative Templates
    • Select System
    • Select Ctrl+Alt+Delete options
    • Select Remove Task Manager
    • Double-click the Remove Task Manager option
since the policy is Remove Task Manager, by disabling the policy, you are enabling the Task Manager.

For IE what you should do is update to the newest version of Internet Explorer or do what I do and Use Mozilla Firefox.

How do i enable pop up windows

Firefox is a free alternative Web browser to Microsoft Internet Explorer.
If you have opted to use Firefox and are having trouble using specific websites that require popup windows, you can alter the popup blocker settings in Firefox.

Click the "Firefox" button and then click "Options."
Click the "Content" tab.

Locate the line that reads "Block pop-up windows" and click the "Exceptions" button next to it.
Enter the full URL of the site for which you want to allow popup windows.
Click the "Allow" button to add that site to your exceptions list.

Continue adding URLs as necessary until all of your exceptions have been added, then close the Allowed Sites window and the Options window.

How do I remove unwanted pop ups?

Internet pop-ups can be an annoyance. These windows are usually associated with different forms of advertisements and at times can include viruses that can infect the computer. Pop-ups do not have to be a part of computer use if the user does not desire this distraction. There are ways to stop pop-ups and prevent them from appearing unless desired. Pop-up blocker allows the user to block these items and select which items to allow.

Open Internet Explorer. Click "Tools" from the menu bar. Tools can be found on the bar that lists "File, Edit, View, Favorites, Tools, Help" directly beneath the address bar. Click "Internet Options" from the "Tools" menu. Click the "Privacy" tab in the "Internet Options" box. Click to check the box that says "Turn on pop-up blocker" in the "Pop-up Blocker" section of the menu. Click "Apply" to save changes. Click "OK" to close the "Internet Options" box. The computer will now block all pop-ups from websites. If downloading items from the Web, the computer will ask whether you would like to allow these items to be opened. Hope this helps.

To remove pop ups try following steps: Before removing it I am giving some introduction about popup. Pop advertisements are an intrusive method where when you click on it it opens up in a seperate window. To remove:
  • Click on start button.
  • Select internet explorer.
  • Open the tools menu located on the upper level in menu bar.
  • Select popup blocker to configure the settings.
  • Select turn on to turn on it and select turn off to turn off it.

I keep getting popups that cover my comcast.net homepage and I can't get into my emails or yahoo messenger. Please help me. This is so frustrating. Mary

To sign in to Web Messenger, you'll need to disable the Pop-Up Blocker. Follow the steps for your browser:

For Firefox:

  1. When a pop-up is blocked:
    - You'll see a bar at the top of the browser window that says "Firefox prevented this site from opening a pop-up window."
    - On the right side of that bar, you'll see an Options or Preferences button.
  2. Click Options or Preferences ' select Allow popups for webmessenger.yahoo.com.
  3. Click Sign-in again.
    - You may need to reload the sign-in page.

For Internet Explorer:

  1. When a pop-up is blocked:
    - You'll see a yellow bar at the top of the browser window.
    - You'll see a message that says "Pop-up blocked. To see this pop-up or additional options click here...".
  2. Click on that yellow bar at the top of the browser window ' select Always Allow Pop-ups from This Site ' click Yes on the confirmation dialog.
  3. Click Sign-in again.

For Safari:

  1. You'll see a warning above the Sign-in button.
    - You won't see any other type of warning.
  2. Select the Safari menu at the top-left of your screen ' un-check Block Pop-up Windows.
  3. Click on Sign-in again
