1.I cannot setup my Samsung dvd/vcr V9800 to my tv and cable box.2. Wires are different. The wires provided has red white and yellow prongs. I do not have those on my tv set which is 7 years old. 3. Setup and connectons instructions are vague and confusing. 4. Illustrations show 2 sets of wires. Procuct only supplies one set. aby assistance would be apprecuated.

Does it have a scart socket. If it does you can get a scart cable with a scart on one end and phono plugs etc or the other.

How do I hook up the DVD/VCR to cable box and Vizio HDTV?

both should be hooked directly to tv

VCR side of combo should be hooked up with composite video(yellow, red, white wires) to video 1 input

DVD side of combo should be hooked up component video (red, blue, green wires and red white for sound)

cable box should be hooked up HDMI or component to TV if HD or composite video if SD

I have my Samsung model dvd V9800 hooked up to my RCA RT2906. The dvd side is showing a picture but the video side is not. The RCA RT2906 has have a hook up for a vcr player by it's self but I do not think...

Hi,
VCR video signal wont come out from Component Video Out of combo unit, it is low resolution signal so you need to hook yellow-red-white video cable in tv for VCR output.
Make sure to select VCR as source in combo while playback of VHS tape and select DVD as source when playing dvd disc in combo.

The VHS tapes will not playback on the Samsung TV (flat screen)..the Samsung TV is a Syncmaster 2333 HD...the Samsung dvd/vhs unit is a DVD-V9800 The DVD discs will play just fine. How should I be...

On these combo units, the VCR will not play using component cables but the dvd's will play just fine.

What you need to do is run a pair of composite (Yellow, red and white) cables and use that for VCR and component (Green, blue, red, white and red) for the dvd player.

Make sure you switch the tv to the corresponding input.

Hi,

Apologies for the delay in response. Your concern was just brought to my attention.

To your recording, based on your second posting (and would appreciate corrective information where applicable), your system is:

Cable provider > Cable Decoder Box > Panasonic DMR-E75V > TV (equipment setup)
single coaxial cable > yellow, red & white > yellow, red & white (wiring setup).

With your indulgence, a couple clarifying questions:

to watch the Panasonic when you play DVDs, to what channel or source or setting must the TV be set to?
to record a TV program/channel, to what channel or source or setting must the Panasonic be set to?
what is the brand and model of your Cable Decoder Box?

Initially, pls try:

play any known good DVD disc/movie. power on the TV and set to watch said movie;
without changing anything on the TV, STOP the playing of the DVD;
try changing channel on your Cable Decoder Box's remote;
pls post back result(s); or
do the above steps again but before changing the channels on the decoder box's remote;
try changing/cycling through the different input/source of the Panasonic DVD;
again post back result(s).

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

If your tv just has the yellow / white, this means the audio is MONO, wich means 1 speaker, not Stereo, just connect the white onr, and leave the red one out, or... you could connect the audio to your stereo!

yes, you need to use an Audio/Video cable (red, white, yellow) to hook to the TV. I've never seen a VCR that doesn't have coax connectors for the antenna input and TV ouput, but maybe the new ones are starting to leave that out. Normally, you run the antenna or cable coax into the VCR's input, then run another coax from the VCR output to the TV's input (or use an A/V cable)

Inexpensive S-video cable is OK?

If you dont have a hi tech theater setup you could almost use jumper wires, BUT yes, the cheap on would work just fine and you would'nt notice the differance from the cheapo one to the expensive type.
