Hello - not certain if you received this information, as it was posted on the primary page...

Do you have a backup from before the upgrade was done? Or, in the alternative, do you have the original CD / restore CD that came with your PC?

What is $199 for? If you had a valid license for the program, there should be a way for us to find a solution without purchasing it again. It may mean a call to Microsoft...

    technet -

    Sorry, I got it - the $199 is for the Pro upgrade.

    One more thought, however, you mght try to see if your original CD will allow you to do a "repair" to bring it back to the Home version. I have not tried this, so I don't know what the result might be, but if you back up your data files, the reinstall from original should not be too bad. Please notify if you need further assistance. Thanks.

    Hi there, technet. Just curious to make sure that all is well, and how you decided to move forward with your issue. Also, if you feel that I was helpful in bringing this to conclusion, could you rate at FixYa? Thanks, and please let me know if I may be of further assistance.

HI, AFTER A WINDOWS UPDATE IN MY COMPUTER I CAN'T SEE MY CD OR OPTICAL DRIVE ANYMORE? THANKS BOBBY

Answer:
Well, the timing is interesting. If you noticed the problems only after installing the updates, I'd remove the updates and see if that fixes things. To remove Windows updates, there are two ways to do this:
1) Add / Remove Programs: Use the Add / Remove Programs tool in the Control Panel to remove the updates. Open it, and make sure the "Show Updates" box is checked (it's located in the upper right of the tool). Scan through the list and see if you can find the updates you've mentioned below. Remove them if you see them. Reboot and see if you still have the problem. If you don't find the updates listed here, you'll have to use the second option below.
2) In your Windows XP Start Menu, go to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore. The System Restore tool will start. Use that to restore your PC to a previous date - you should be able to select to restore to a time before those updates were installed. The tool will allow you to pick from certain times you can restore to. Pick the date and time that's just before you installed the updates. Click for more information on the System Restore tool.
If neither of these fix the issue or remove the updates, then the problem is not something I can easily troubleshoot over email. There may be anything from hardware problems to network problems to CPU and process problems. To continue the troubleshooting, you'd be best off showing your PC to a local computer geek.

Common problem. CD driver did not install correctly.

Go to Device Manager. Unistall the CD drive. Reboot.

The Operating System will then rescan, locate the drive, and reinstall the driver.

Good luck.

Reply to $199

I did post another comment since that first one with the $199 question, and hope that you got that.

Since then, I did a little research on pricing, and there appear to be few alternatives to the $199. The only instances where the pricing was lower appear to be either original or SP1 versions, which would require substantially more time on your part to update. So, I think it is a choice between reverting using the restore CD, or unfortunately paying the $199. In either case, I would recommend doing a full backup of at least your data files, and any other software that you may not have handy, just in case something goes wrong with the solution. Best of luck!

The % of a discounted price

Lets say Your

MRP = 199
BESTSALE = 130

Now you want to calculate that howmuch percentage of BESTSALE i.e 130, will be added to get MRP i.e. 199.

If m right what do you want, then use the following formula:

Percentage = ((MRP/BESTSALE) - 1) x 100

In your case 199/130 = 1.5307....
So 1.5307 - 1 = 0.5307
Then 0.5307 x 100 = 53.07 %

Thanks
