First off, I'd like to start off by saying sorry if this question has been asked before. Anyways, just today, my PS3 apparently decides to stop reading discs... This morning, I was playing a game, and it was working fine, and later on in the day when I turned the PS3 on again, no disc logo came up.. I tried inserting PS2 games, and DVDs none of which show up, however I noticed that when I inserted it the loading icon still appeared in the top right hand corner. Also, I don't think the disc is spinning... Could someone please tell what exactly is wrong, and how to fix it?

Yes you can change the region code on your Ps3.
1.) Go to BD / DVD Parental Control Region Code (don't ask me why its under parental control)
2.) Change the region code from United States to "Other". If it asks for specific check online to see what region the DVD's are from.
Hi,
i'm sorry you've got the YLOD issue :(
to get the disc out you may try this:
- turn off the ps3 with the main switch, behind the console - press the EJECT touch-key on the front, HOLD on it while you turn on the console with the main switch... keep holding the eject key, if it'll work you'll get your disc out. If it won't work just try a couple of times more.
Other than that, the only thig to do is to get in touch with Sony technical support, but anyways don't worry you'll have your disc back.
Regards, Peter
Please check if the games you want to play are on PLAYSTATION3 format. If not then they will not be played. Otherwise when you insert the disc the games start automatically
go to www.modchipman.com and repair sevices i used them when my xbox's were dead and they had the red ring and disc read error they can fix it in ten minutes i watched them install a new tray on mine. anyways they have your problems the disc error and freezing. $9.99 but your yellow light $99.99 the cost to see your ps3 run again.
The AVS software that was used to produce the disc or file is a demo copy, you will need to register and activate via the AVS website http://www.avs4you.com/Register.aspx
it is only to reconize the bluray region and material on the bluray that is protected agains piracy just perfome an update anyways is always good to keep your system with the newer update
This is a common problem so it should be a quick fix. But, depending on how many repairs the shop you are sending it to has will ultimately decide how long it will be there. Sorry to say but you may be looking at 4-6 weeks.
sorry to say but its a job for sony, call them up, there numbers on the website explain the probs your having and they will either arrange for a replacement or to repair yours. The problem your having is ti do with one of the recenct updates online. And its all sonys fault!! There replacement service is normally very good. Hope this helps
