Antenna Power supply

I have 1 wire in my '99 Acura Integra wiring harness for the switched antenna power supply. When I connect the Clarion Blue/White (power antenna turn-on lead) the antenna does not go up. If I connect the Solid Blue wire(Auto Antenna) lead init doesn't go up either. Do I need to connect one of the wires to a seperate power source?

First order of business is to check and see if the antenna is operating properly. If the wire in your harness is intended to power the antenna, connect 12 volts to this lead, and the antenna should go up (this needs to be done with the key in the ON or ACCY position). If the antenna does not go up, check the fusebox for a blown fuse. If the antenna does indeed go up, then you can scratch that off the list of possible problems and move on to the next step.

The Clarion should have a power input wire to keep the clock alive, and a power wire (normally of heavier guage) to actually power the radio. Make sure the radio operates when the key is in the ON or ACCY position. If the radio is operating, so far so good.

I'm kind of confused when you say there are two wires on the clarion... "power antenna turn-on" and "auto antenna". Are these both on the clarion? There should be a wire that constantly feeds the antenna with power (I would cal this one auto antenna). It should always be powered to 12 volts. The antenna should operate when the "antenna turn on" lead becomes 12 volts. Normally this ONLY happens when the clarion RADIO is on (ie: if you're listening to a CD, the antenna probably won't get activated).

After checking all this, if you're still having problems and if you haven't already done so, grab a DC volt meter and verify that the clarion power antenna turn on lead goes to 12 volts when you turn on the radio. If it does not, then there is an internal problem within the radio. If this lead IS going to 12 volts when it is supposed to and the antenna still isn't working, then my guess is that the antenna is malfunctioning.

Let me know what you find out... I'll keep looking at stuff from this end. Good luck.

I need a wiring diagram to hook up a new radio.

First you will need to get a wire harness for your specific make, model & year of car. This will interface the car wiring plug to your new clarion headunit.

Next you will connect the wires from your purchased wire harness to the wires of your Clarion Headunit. Using **** connectors with a wire crimper is the best way to do so.

Here is a wire color coding guide for the wires on your Clarion headunit:

P o w e r Memory (+12v Constant) Yellow Ignition (+12v Switched) Red Ground (-) Black Dimmer Pink/White (Alpine only) Power Antenna Blue Amplifier Turn-on Blue/White Phone Mute Light Blue (Sony only) S p e a k e r s Right Front (+) Gray Right Front (-) Gray/Black Left Front (+) White Left Front (-) White/Black Right Rear (+) Violet Right Rear (-) Violet/Black Left Rear (+) Green Left Rear (-) Green/Black

My am radio doesnt work , but my fm does and my sirius does, whats wrong

Hi,

May be your car has an in-glass radio antenna. Because these don't perform as well as mast antennas, there's an antenna amplifier built into the vehicle.

When installing a new head unit, it's necessary to connect the "power antenna" wire in the radio harness. This activates the antenna amplifier. If you leave this disconnected, the result is the problem you're describing.

Since the vehicle doesn't have an actual motorized antenna, many installers overlook the power antenna connection in the harness. Also, after-market adapter harnesses use a blue wire for this function, and your Radio head unit has only a blue/white output.

The answer, then, is to check the back of the radio, and make sure the blue/white wire from the Radio deck is connected to the blue wire in the adapter harness.

As long as you have connected the ground(black) try adding one wire at a time to the live(red). If possible try connection each wire one at a time to the power line and then both together. If nothing has blown(fuses) and the unit starts working then you can try by trial & error method the remaining wires. You should be able to figure out which wire is required and if there are any extra wires like cellular phone(mute) and then decide whether to connect them or keep them open.....sodeep

Chrysler Part No. P56038933AB Radio Wire Color code

1982 to 2001 wiring harness color code Chrysler.

12V constant pink or pink/white stripe
12V accessory red/white stripe
Antenna/Amp turn on white
12V Illumination black/yellow stripe
Left front + dark green
Left front - brown/red stripe
Right front + purple
Right front - blue/red stripe
Left rear + brown/blue stripe
Left rear - brown/yellow stripe
Right rear + blue/ orange stripe
Right rear - blue/white stripe

there is no ground wire in the harness, the metal braided strap is the ground.
use a ring terminal, speed clip, and screw to attach the ground wire from new radio
when replacing infinity radios and speakers, there are 4 wires instead of 2 at the speaker plug. the large gauge blue and black wires are the power supply for the amp, the other 2 are signal wires from the deck and will match up to the wire color codes above. simply cap off the power and ground and use the other 2 for speaker leads.

One thing i hate to see is someone who just hacks off the plugs behind the radio because they are too cheap/lazy/dumb to buy a wire harness adapter for the nice new aftermarket deck they just bought. ive seen everything from masking tape to house wire nuts used to connect wires, and they never last.
there is only 1 reliable permanent way to connect wires together - SOLDER AND SHRINK WRAP!!! whether you're connecting wiring for a radio, fog lights, repairing a cut wire, etc solder those wires, you'll be glad you did when you never have a problem with that circuit again.

This is a listing for part #'s for dash kits wire harness adapters
all part numbers are metra unless otherwise noted
dash kit 99-6700, 99-6701 and 99-6500 will work for most cars
wire harness adapter 70-1817
reverse harness( to replace factory plug that have been cut off) 71-1817
speaker adapter plugs 72-6510, non amped 72-6513 when equiped w infinity system and bypassing fact amps

no antenna adapters are required until you hit 2002 model year.
beginning in 2005 chrysler switched to a high speed LAN system in all its cars and trucks. there is no longer a switched ignition lead in the harness.
Good Luck
