Try reinstalling Quicken 2008 after uninstalling it first via 'Add/Remove Programs" in Control Panel. this should help.
Also check out THIS article on converting Quicken files to new versions and other info..It may prove to be quite useful..
As for the IBM Laptop not recognizing the flash drive, generally they come with a driver CD. Try installing that on the IBM and see. If you do not have the CD, you should be able to find the driver from the manufacturer's website, or do a google.

could it be that the emailed data was incomplete due to file size restrictions? If that be the case, can you not transfer the data directly, say using a flash drive?
Sorry if I sound a bit naive, but I am not too familiar with Quicken...

Followed your recommendaiton to uninstall and then reinstall it. Program was then able to successfully accept the emailed data from the old Quicken version and convert it to Quicken 2008. It only pulled up a portion of all the data. The oldest date on the old program was 4/11/68,which was correct, but information was only added on Quicken 2008 up to 10/10/1999 instead of 4/22/2008.
I did install the flash drive CD at the beginning but it did not copy the data from the IBM. Could send a copy of the data forwarded on the email from the IBM if that would be helpful.
Thanks for the help thus far. billian2
