Unable to play region 2 DVDs

I have a Sampo DVD player model DVE-611. I was told that it would play DVDs from any region. Recently I purchased several DVDs from England that are not available in the states. They don't play. What do I need to do?
I called Regent and the person who answered to phone told me Regent bought the building and Sampo he cannot provide me with technical support.

There are sites with firmware that you burn to a disc to unlock the DVD player. Do a google search to find one.

REGION 1,DVD

Region 1 dvds are usually USA/Canada dvds and will play on any dvd purchased in those countries. You didn't state your location so I don't know where you are. Google your location for dvd region to make sure.

We live in america and we can not see american dvd's it keep sending a message thar it is the wrong region how can can i change it to region 1 which is the american

You live in America and you cannot watch a American film here is why:

1. You ether put in a NON-AMERICAN FILM many people do this by proxy when they want to see a LATIN AMERICAN FILM FROM MEXICO PERHAPS?

2. Or the DVD laser is not picking up the TOC "table of contents" this means repair is in order.

3. Or some body was playing around with the player with some other types of discs that might not been able to be read in the player.

All after witch this sampo player is past its prime.

let me know if there are any questions

WILL MY DVD PLAY AREA 1 AND AREAV4 DVD'S?

Hi camonk2004,

It's interesting that your DVD player was purchased in Russia but plays Region 1 DVDs. Region 1 is North America. Does your Player also play Russian DVDs (region 5)? If so, then it has probably been modified to play DVDs from multiple regions.

Check the back side of the DVD player - the rear panel should have a Region number on it. If the region number is 1, then try playing a Region 5 DVD. If it reads the DVD, then the modification that was done in Russia will probably allow it to read any DVD. IF the Region 5 DVD won't play (or if it is ejected automatically), then your player's region control os still intact, and it will only play DVDs from the same region as the one listed on the rear panel of the player (or DVDs marked "ALL").

I hope this helps - please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

Kind Regards,
H2H

Sampo DVE-611 apparently powers up from front panel switch (w/red light) LCD display, etc. No other buttons work, incl. eject. Remote completely unresponsive. Unit shuts down about 10 sec. later. Anyone...

After several power ups, the front panel buttons eventually "woke up". Replaced remote, and everything's working fine. Not sure why the front panel was temporarily unresponsive.

Sampo 612N DVD Player

Sorry for the very late reply because I have left this site for awhile. "X" represents a variable anything from a number 1-6, so instead of an "X" you input a number from 1-6. Got it?
Good luck
