Color cartridge I put in brand new cartridges. When I did the test page, the black was working, but not the color. \sometimes it even showed-cartridge missing. What can I do?

    I have the same problem I replaced the cartridges for the first time on my Dell 720 now it will ony print in black, I have been through all different processes i.e cleaning the heads going into the maintenace and ticking added new cartridge, I also selected the new cartridges both for the colour and the black ink but it will only print black. I have been on the Dell site but they are totally a waste of time. My computer is also Dell and I must say I will never buy anything from them again they are a total waste of time.

That is most proberly a defective cartridge packermary you need to try another cartridge if it works then return the defective cartridge or else try cleaning the head on the cartridge by using alcohol or spirits and wiping the pins on the cartridge head & the coper part of the cartridge.

I put new cartridges color and black in printer. They are in the right places but it only prints black

New cartridges? When checking ink levels does it show FULL? Have you run thru the Maintenance solutions such as CHECK INK LEVELS CALIBRATE PRINTER-CLEAN PRINTHEAD-PRINT TEST PAGE ? But of course each model and brand is prob different . (Mine is A KODAK)Ive experienced this The solution for mine was certainly nothing technical. But it worked..the ink had apparently dried in the bottom of cartridge even though it was new) if you try this wear gloves it could get messy! Take an old saucer put a small amt very warm water on it just enough to reach the 'color holes' on bottom and set cartridge in it for a couple minutes.in just couple mins my ink started flowing.then I moved it close to rim of saucer out of water for a minute , tapping off any excess water, wiped off with paper towel reinserted and it was fine. Now this may not be the answer to your problem but it wont cost to try and it wont hurt the cartridge. First thing tho I would check INK LEVELS make sure printer recognizes the new cartridge

Just put new color cartridges in and tested print and it showed all color bars however when i ask it to print it does not print out anything in black

You didn't say what brand/model of printer you are using, but a lot of printers nowadays have a color cartridge(s) and a separate black cartridge. Perhaps the black cartridge needs to be replaced, too?

Hp officejet 6110 not printing with black ink

Hi lilacky-

Here are some HP support links that might be helpful... and a couple questions to consider.

Q: Is your new cartridge one of these listed below?
"The HP Officejet 6100 series and HP Digital Copier Printer 410 products use the print cartridges listed below:
* HP 56 black print cartridge
* HP 57 tri-color print cartridge
* HP 58 photo cartridge (replaces the HP 56 black print cartridge for six-ink photo printing)" info from: Installing a Print Cartridge

Has your cartridge been sitting a while in the box, maybe in a warm spot? Some times even new cartridges dry out a little. Was your old cartridge low or completely gone? Just as a test, if you put it back in your printer does the old cartridge work? Any printer error messages? Can you print a test page or an alignment page for your black cartridge? These might be too many questions but here are some HP support links with some How To information for getting more answers. Please let me know if any of these are helpful. see also: Slow or No Response from Printer
