When you're able to change USB mode in the display:
- From the Main Menu, select Settings > USB - Select in "Auto Detect", "MTP" or "MSC": choose MSC for viewing the player as a removable disk.
When you cannot select MSC mode in the player's menu, force MSC mode with the player switches/buttons:
1. Turn device OFF. 2. Facing the hold switch: slide it to the right so an orange color would show, putting the device on Hold. 3. Connect the device to the PC with the provided USB cable.
note
In MSC mode: Before disconnecting the USB cable always go through the safely remove hardware icon in the lower screen of your computer on the right. Left click the icon to see all removable disks and left click on the removable disk drive letter of the player to disconnect: after the message you can take out the USB cable.

menu option, and then press Menu/OK
.
Use the Down arrow
button to select Disk Drive
, and then press Menu/OK
.
Use the Down arrow
button to highlight EXIT
, and then press
Menu/OK
.
After setting the camera to Disk Drive mode, connect the camera to the computer using the USB cable.
The
camera will appear as a removable disk in the Windows Explorer screen.
You can now transfer the images or video clips to a location on the
computer using Windows Explorer.
When
finished transferring images from the camera to the computer,
disconnect the camera from the computer. If the computer is running
Windows 2000 or XP, there may be an Unsafe Removal
warning upon disconnecting the camera. This warning may be disregarded.
Simply reset the iPod
Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
I do not know which ipod you have, but here are instructions on how to get a nano in and out of DISK MODE:
To turn iPod Disk mode off:
Toggle the hold switch on and off
Press and Hold the Select and the Menu button for more than ten seconds
The normal selection screen should appear, your iPod is out of Disk mode.
To turn iPod Disk mode on:
Toggle the hold switch on and off
Press and Hold the Select and the Menu button for six+ seconds
Release both buttons when the Apple logo appears
Press and Hold the Select and Play button until the Disk Mode text appears.
If it does not work, you may need to reset your ipod. The following link has extensive instructions on that procedure for many types of ipods. Good luck my friend!
Hi, Whatever you do, do not disconnect it when it is like that. Do a reset (hold the menu and play buttons until the screen goes black and then quickly disconnect it from the computer.
what you do now depends on what the iPod does after you disconnect if from the computer. If the screen comes on, then you are OK. If it comes back to the do not disconnect screen, do a reset again, and this time when the screen goes black, quickly hold down the play/pause key and the middle key. Hold them until you see a check mark and the words, 'disk mode'. Connect it to your computer while it is like this and restore it. Hope that helps.
It is not designed to show up as a Removable Disk in MTP mode, therefore it wont show up in the Safely Disconnect Menu.
If you are using Windows Media Player to transfer, as soon as the SYNC is complete, it says "ok to disconnect". You can disconnect without any problems.
If you are using Rhapsody, or the Best Buy Digital Music Store, you can right click on the device in the Sources Menu and select Disconnect.
Your iPod is in Disk Mode. Press and hold the menu and select buttons together until an apple appears. then it should be Ok. More info can be found here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93651
