My Neff has been cleaned, filters checked and as best as i can back flushed.
If left to it's own devices there is not enough pressure to spin the arm and the water level appears low.
If I add approx 3L of water after each water filling part of the cycle the machine works fine (not v labour saving!!)
So I deduce that a water level float is closing too early... am I on the right tracks and how do I proceed???
Thanks in advance
If you remove the lid and looking at the front of the d/w take of the lefft side panel, at the right bottom on the side you should see a pressure chamber with some micro switches and a red lever. This is possible blocked along with the hose that is attached to it (to the right, behind the chamber) clear them both and retest with the side panel off to check for good flow and to make sure you have not created a leak.
Good luck
Testimonial: "Thanks for the reply. However I'm still fighting the lack of water."
The red float should not move during the fill, it is an overfill float. I'm going to put money on the hose attached to this chamber being restricted in some way. Is there any gunge or lime build up in the chamber? If so you need to replace it or take it off and clean it. (be careful not the get the microswitches wet. It will come off by first removing the fill chamber on the left and then give it a hefty tug upwards. Best of luck.

Follow the link above, go to page 4, the part numbered 0415 is the hose that I believe is blocked.
You're very welcome, diagnosis from a far is a hit and miss sport, very pleased I could help.
PS I prefer to be addressed as Madam not Sir as I am the extremely rare breed that is the female engineer.
All the best.

The opaque flexible convoluted plastic pipe from the filling float chamber behind the left-hand side panel to the filter chamber under the filter in the bottom of the machine was almost completely blocked with hardened gunge. This gunge ( which I suspect is dishwasher powder, tablet detergent residue ) has built up over time and set like concrete in the pipe, needing a screwdriver to break it up and remove.
Best to remove the pipe which just pulls off at each end in order to clean it out.
partial blockage of this pipe causes the filling water to back up, filling the float chamber which operates the empty-out pump and shutts off the filling water so the machine does not take on enough water before starting to rinse or wash. Insufficient water intake causes the spray from the spray arms to reduce to a trickle so does not wash effectively.

Hi
If you are noticing that the dishes are not clean, then there are a few things to check for. Check the soap powder if it's kept in a dry environment. Also try replacing the powder with something like a gel or liquid. Next thing to check for is the water pressure and fill valve. Check if the water is filling in and the spray arms are throwing the water with enough pressure. Try and listen to the sound if you hear a proper spraying action sound.
If it seems as a low water pressure then check the fill valve. Now, check if dishwasher is draining the water or not. While the dishwasher is working check whether the dishwasher is draining and there is not much left out water after the cycle is complete. Try cleaning the spray arm with a soft brush. The water temperature plays a major role in cleaning of dishes. The temp should be between 125 and 150 F for dishwasher to clean the dishes. Hope this helps...

Ronidavey,
Thanks for you advice. I have done as you say (ish) I have started the machine with the cover off and watched the red and yellow floats do their work. Every thing seem to flow well. The water seems to fill up the red and the yellow chambers and then the water is extracted for a while, which causes the floats to drop, this happens several times during the fill. Does this help anymore?
roni davey,
Sir you are a superstar!! The pipe was full of silt, which is strange considering we have an apparent water softener fitter to the mains... or is this another investigation??? Anyhow the dishwasher is now happily blasting my wifes china!!!
Please have a cyber pint on me and very many thanks for your assistance.
