I am having the same problem, when i go to play games it just says something about playing in progressive mode. in the settings on the psp it is already in progressive. I think this is a bunch of ****, this was advertised like it would just play on TV , i don't remember them advertising that you need a damn SPECIAL TV in order to use that feature...little disappointed in Sony at the moment, only have a Wii but it looks like my mind has been made up on my 360/SONY PS3...

How do I play my games on tv using av cable?

The PSP system (model PSP-2001 and PSP-3001) includes a video-out port which allows users to connect and play the PSP system on an external display or television with AV inputs. It is important to note -- you can

Component AV Cables (model SCPH-98550)
The Component AV Cables connect to the Video Out Port on the bottom of the PSP-2001 or PSP-3001 systems and allow you to output video and audio signal to a television display. The AV Cables support photos, videos (including UMD movies), music, and games. Please note for games to output onto an external display, the display must support progressive scan.

Composite AV Cables (model SCPH-98548)
The AV Cables connect to the Video Out Port on the bottom of the PSP-2001 or PSP-3001 systems and allow you to output video and audio signal toa television display. The AV Cables support photos, videos (includingUMD movies), and music. However, output of games are only supported by PSP-3001.
tip

Play psp games on tv via composite/component av cable

you will need to have:

1.a psp slim with custom firmware 3.80 or 3.90.
2.composite/component av cable.
3.installer plugin file FUSA that can be sourced in the internet e.g. qj.net.
4.memory stick pro duo with 2 gigabytes capacity.

steps:

1.source the FUSA installer file.
2.once sourced, extract it to your pc desktop using 'winrar'.
3.connect pc to psp via usb.
4.upon extraction, copy or drag all four files (prx and txt) to the 'seplugins' folder on the memory stick (ms0:/seplugins/).
5.if you don't have the 'seplugins' folder on the root of the memory stick, create it.
6.exit usb connection and completely turn off psp, then turn it back on while pressing the 'R' button to go to recovery menu.
7.on recovery menu, choose and click plugins, set the FUSA plugin to 'enable',then exit recovery menu.
8.you can also activate the plugin on the FUSA menu itself, and this is better recommended.
9.connect now psp to crt tv using component av cable.
10.load a game and after loading it,just right before clicking the 'start' button to begin play, exactly at this point, simultaneously press on the volume - and + buttons to bring out the FUSA menu.
11.after a few seconds, the FUSA menu will appear on the psp screen, change the settings accordingly, exit FUSA menu and start the game to play it on your tv.

*many games or emulators will work but not all as the FUSA file is still in its beta stage, you need to figure out which one will work or not through trial and error.use caution, this guide works but no guarantees.
*used a 2 gb memory stick pro duo as 4 gb didn't work.
*used on an interlace only tv and not progressive or crt/non-flat/lcd/plastma/hdtv's.

thanks.

When i connect psp to tv(hd) the screen apears red. Pls help.

It sounds like either the cables are reversed, loose, or possibly bad. This is what happens when a cable connection is not "solid". Please make sure all the cables are attached securely and in the correct order, if they are you may need to replace the cable. If it still happens with a new cable, it is probably the input on your TV that has an issue.

If i use progressive it only show me a blank screen on tv. but if i switched it to interlaced i can access ny psp on tv nut i cannot play the UMD. What should i do?

Your tv does not support progressive . With interlaced you cannot play games on tv. Most or all hdtvs have progressive scan, at the same time most standard def tvs do not.

I WANT TO FINE THE WAY TO CONNECT THE CABLES FROM PSP TO TV.

First you're going to need a slim psp, if you have it then you just plug the cables to the right places. To play games on your tv you need a tv with progressive scan and component inputs.

Trouble playing a game on PSP while on the TV

I haven't got a tv which is good enough for the psp componets cable. But as sony psp manual says, http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/psp/current/settings/index_videoout.html you probably need to setup your tv for the correct display type, not only on your psp, BUT ALSO YOUR TV SETUP!

Good luck.
