Can't take still picture

Aiptek GVS model: When I attempt to take a still picture I get an onscreen notice "[!] Charging". It used to work fine but now it won't. However, it does take low res pictures when I press the joystick. How can I get rid of the Charging and get it to take the high def pictures again?

SOURCE: when i zoom in the picture is all fuzzy

Clarification: digital zoom "guesses" pixels between those really recorded. The further you zoom the more guesswork and the more likely the picture is loosing sharpness.

Also, digital zoom needs _a lot _ more light.

SOURCE: unlock memory card

There's a tiny slider on one side of the memory card. The slider has 2 positions 'locked' and 'unlocked' That should sort the problem.

Where to find the manual (pdf) for Aiptek Action-HD GVS camcorder

Sometimes , it is convenient to have a soft copy of your user manual. You may also require it as you lost your original printed manual. This tip will guide you to your digital manual and explain how to download it.

Printed manuals are normally available at a cost from the product manufacturer. Please see the link below to contact the manufacturer and find out how to replace your printed manual.

To download a soft copy of your manual , please CLICK HERE to go to the retrevo page for your manual. This is a excellent site that maintains a manual and product database of thousands of products available free to download in PDF format.

Please note that you will need pdf viewer software to be able to view the downloaded manual. I can recommend Adobe reader which is available for free download at the following location :

CLICK HERE to go to Adobe Reader download site.

To download you manual from retrevo , follow the LINK. You will be taken to the product page. The following images are used as an example.

When your on this page , you can select to see reviews , prices , specs , an overview of the product and of coarse , the manual. You can just hit the big red manual button to proceed.

Now simply type in the capcha code and hit the red “download now” button to begin your manual download.

My camera's monitor/screen is black with no picture

My AIPTEK 1080p was powering on but the screen was turning off within one second of turning the unit on. I verified that the camera was still working and just the output onto the screen failed. I was able to resolve this by hooking the camcorder up to the TV and viewing the menus on the TV and then turning the camcorder off with the power button. I think this problem happened because I didn't do a "clean" shutdown the last time I had my aiptek hooked up to the TV. It is now working perfectly!

Sound Lag

This is a known issue (though Aiptek might deny it) with this model. Check out this forum at Steve's Digicams for posts on the MPVR and the lag:
http://forums.steves-digicams.com/forums/view_forum.php?id=92

It can be fixed with video editing software. I use Windows Movie Maker to copy the audio track from the video and paste it back in as a separate audio track. Then I mute the original and cut very little snips off the pasted-in audio track and slide it over until it matches the video.

It's supposed to be possible to fix this problem with software that will reduce the framerate from 30fps to 29.97fps or 25fps (don't remember which), but I haven't had any luck with that method so far.
