What is the worth of a Singer G974953?

What is the worth of a Singer Sewing Machine serial number G974953? My uncle has a Singer Manufacturing Co machine and would like to sell it but has no idea how much it's worth. It's very old. There is beautiful decals (or painting) on the machine. How does he determine the worth or should it be given to a museum?

What year is singer sewing machine serial number ap232068

According to the appropriate serial number lookup table at ISMACS.net, http://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_machine_company/serial-numbers/singer-sewing-machine-serial-number-database.html , the Singer AP232068 is a model 603 allocated the serial number in October 1964. The machine may have stayed in the Singer manufacturing plant for up to two years after getting the serial number.

I hope this helps.

A Singer ID QA 062737 or OA, Elec/crank. Made in Brazil. Decals a RAF an bird in full flight Is this a rare machine. Liz

Hello, Liz -

I cannot answer your question regarding the rarity of your Singer sewing machine.

I did find information here regarding manufacturing of Singer sewing machines in Brazil:
http://www.singersewinginfo.co.uk/campinas/
(Quote)
The Singer factory in Campinas, Brazil started production in 1955.

In the middle of 1950 Singer purchased 300 acres of land in Viracopos Campinas. On 14 May 1955 the new Singer factory was formerly opened by the then President of Brazil.

(snip)

Early machines produced at the Campinas factory were identified by serial numbers that took the form of RA, RB, RC etc. followed by 6 digits starting at 000001 up to 999999.
(End quote)

I also found manufacture date information for Singer sewing machines with QA numbering. See:
http://www.sewalot.com/dating_singer_sewing_machine_by_serial_number.htm
Machines with QA to QZ identification began to be manufactured in 1963.

For more information, I suggest you contact the Singer Sewing Machine Co. and ask to have your phone call transferred to the company archives. This is the link to the Singer Contact Us web page:
https://www.singer.com/support
Scroll down the page to find the phone number and the days and hours a Customer Service Representative will be available via phone.

The company archives should hold records which should identify if your model of sewing machine was manufactured in great quantities or not.

Note: At one time in my career I worked as a archivist and historian for a business.

Best wishes.

What is today's worth of my 1942 antique the Singer Manufacturing Co sewing machine-good condition with its case too? And who wants to buy it today?

There are still a lot of older sewing machines being used today and some are very coveted by their owners. Featherweights are very popular with quilters. The price? Well, it's probably whatever someone is willing to pay. Check out what's sold on eBay.
