sounds like u need replace the screen on the laptop. i am based in london and have used the company below cost 100 pounds includes fitting and if it wasnt that which i would be very surprised they wouldnt charge you or search the screen up on ebay. hope this helps Help my laptop keyboard is broken
Do you mean the LCD screen with the lid? If so you undo the hinges and disconnect the video and power leads to the inverter. This WEB site shows how to remove the screen/hinges. Replacing Display hinges http://www.laptopparts101.com/display-screen-hinges/
try configuring your display settings on the laptop before connecting. I have a HP dv7 and it was doing the same thing until i configured it for a secondary display
ok, theres a small issue with the raid controller. You have to install a 3rd party raid driver (its on the dell cd) to continue, OR, you can set that BIOS's hard drive controls to ATA or LEGACY (legacy would likely work best, but youd have no 'raid' functions, but who sets up raid drives on a notebook?). Your last option is use the dell discs to restore, and inssert the windws disc when prompted
Dear sir in the link below you will find the complete spare part solution for the Dell Inspiron http://www.user-guides.co.uk/cddownload/Dell/DellInspiron/Dell-Inspiron-1721-Service-Manual-Remove-Upgrade-2289.html and you will learn how to install the Dell KB in
You need to reinstall the audio driver, if you need to, you can download the drivers from Dell WEB site, the support download page. Make sure you select your model laptop, better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on the bottom of the laptop. This will open the page where the specific drivers for your model laptop are located. Also make sure you select the Windows XP or Vista version of the driver for your Windows operating system.

Hi Tom,
The Inspiron 1720 &1721 series was released more than a year ago and is no longer available new, only refurbished. The comparbable machines currently on the market is the Inspiron 1525 & 1526 series. The 1525 &1526 series are comparable in price and specs, and the specs are a little better as far as graphics and sound cards. The 1730 series is still available, but it has a price of approx $2500. Hope this helps. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.
