Check the cord. Reset it. Check the circuit breaker. Is the filter clean?
If all of that is good you could have a bad capacitor. If it looks swollen or leaky that is the problem. A bad capacitor could cause the fan and compressor not to run IF the power is there. More Here

Hmmm. Since your Acer has stopped working you are unable to make a backup disc.
By stopped working do you mean nothing happens when you attempt to turn it on?
