Toner Light on

If asking for black toner did you change rt toner pump should been one behind the black dev unit. Sometimes when you change it might have to open and close front door. A couple of times make sure you leave it open long enough that it think you change bottle

I assume you ran 25-02 when you changed the dev?, if not you will have to replace it again.

Check to make sure you have drive to the dev box, slide out dev box and rub your finger along mag roll and run it up, remove again and see if the dev has returned.

If it is a high mileage machine, you can get problems with the dev drive, the box itself or the toner sensor.

please check if the toner is not lumpy cos this can also cause that.
or also check the buttom of the toner bottle since the moto and the bottle may not have the same format .

put a little toner(less than a tea spoon) on paper then pour it directly in the dev unit hole.switch off/on.did it work?

if the machine is starting up and you just replaced the toner cartridge make sure it is seated properly also did you shake the cartridge slightly before fitting sometimes the cartridge can compact the toner and it doesnt agitate to the dev unit properly. check also if the dev unit has been reset properly and the lever set in place..

What "t" I'm not sure what you mean...where? any other lights on other than "add toner"
As for the toner...Was the 'plunger' in the top of the bottle you removed, or did it possibly get stuck in the machine? If the old plunger is still in the machine it will block the flow obviously. Remove the new bottle and check to see.

Dev. Change Process

1. Check that Dev. unit has the lastest seals.
2. replace dev. material.
3. Dump dev.
4. add new dev. material.
5. Hand rotate the dev. unit 10 times.
6. reinstall the dev. unit into machine.
7. cover the toner inlet opening with a piece of paper
8. insert PCU unit.
9. turn the machine on.
10. When machine reaches ready -- enter SP modes and perform SP-2801 (2 times)
11. open the right cover of the machine. Cheat the right cover switch. Examine the drum as it rotates. Afew bands of toner and the ID pattern will be developed on the drum. The drum should be clean -- a slight dusting on the drum is OK.
12. Perform SP-3001 -- ID sensor initial setting.
13. ** Important** remove the PCU unit. Empty the toner from the PCU by sliding the shutter on the bottom of the PCU to the side and tapping the PCU.
14. reinstall the PCU.
15. Run test copies.

Dev. initialize should only be done when replacing dev.otherwise it will not add the correct amount of toner to the dev.Replace developer and run sim.2-801 in service mode.

If the toner is an original you should not have a problem unless the Developer unit is faulty. The developer unit mixes the toner with the dev. If the dev unit TD (Toner Density) sensor is not working then it will not add toner. Try the following.

• Remove black drum unit
• Remove Black Developer unit
• Tap the develop unit and shake side to side 5-6 times
• Reinstall both units close covers and open toner cover
• wait 15 seconds then close the cover

Hopefully then you will add toner if not the likely thing is that the developer unit will need replacing.
