Chamberlain screw drive opener

The plastic peice that runs along the screw seems to be stripped...when it's engaged with the door it wont hold enough to lift it...just makes an awful noise "stripping".
I assume that peice needs replaced...how do you get the new one on...how do i get the part?

The replacement part is available from chamberlain for replacement. I suggest the door be serviced by an experienced technician as the door is probably too heavy for the motor to lift, thats how the part became stripped in the first place

My son disengaged the latch while the door was open. Then he manually closed then opened the door. When I got home the door was half open and not latched. the trolley on the track was approx 3ft away

If the track is a screw thread, then just latch the door anywhere along the track, and it will realign itself.
If the track is a chain-drive... then push door up until it clicks into latch.

Door wont close

The gear wheel powering the chain is stripped. The cogs are usually plastic and not uncommon for them to wear or break off. Replaceable item from manufacturer.

My craftsman 41a4315-7d garage door opener is not working the motor seems to engage however the chain is not moving. What could the problem be?

Remove the cover and check the drive gear. It is white nylon and is just in front of the motor. You will find it is stripped. The part number is 41A2817.

Powerdrive PD422D 1/2 HP Security Plus Screw Drive Garage Door Opener: my garage door unit acts like the gear is stripped...

DOES IT MOVE AT ALL OR JUST RUN??

IS THE ROPE RELEASE PULLED??

IF THE GEARS ARE STRIPPED IT WILL NORMALLY MAKE A GRAVELLY SOUND. AND THE DOOR WILL MOVE BUT NOT LIKE IT SHOUL.

TRY DISCONNECTING THE DOOR FROM THE OPENER & SEE IF THE TRAVELER MOVES NORMALLY.

Replacing screw drive socket coupler on chamberlain garage opener

There are two bolts just in front of the motor that holds the rail. Remove these and you can move the motor back enough to slide the coupler off.

Hi there. I have a Chamberlain Whisper Drive

I just had that problem this morning and the cause was that the springs that help hold the weight of the garage door were broken. This caused the garage door opener to raise the garage door a fe inches and then drop again. We called in a professional and $200 later we had new springs and everything works fine now.

Need to replace carriage on stanley sd450 opener how is it done?

Please make sure you don't have broken springs first and that the door is balanced properly. If so you can replace the "Trolly" by disconnecting the arm from the opener, undoing the opener from the bracket that mounts it to the wall. This usually takes a 1/2 in wrench. Then swing the opener out far enough to slide the trolly off and replace it with a new one. Re-connect everything then re-engage the trolly.

Door opener will not engage as mechanism moves along the chain track

Make sure the rope hanging down has not been pulled. If it has the door has been disengaged from the opener. You can correct this by flipping the metal part up (that the rope is connectd to) toward the drive track. Then open or close the door using the remote. The track should grab the door again.
