There is chance that the heating element has gone bad but the first things to check are all your thermal fuses inside the cabinet of the dryer. They should all have continuity and the one that does not have anything then it needs to be replaced

Hotpoint WDF740G Dryer not Very Hot

Most likely to be either that the capacitor is defective which starts the motor slowly at first and then picks up speed or the drive belt is worn, usually this happens when the drum has clothes in it otherwise it looks as if it is operating normally

MY NVLR333EVOWW HOT POINT DRYER IS NOT HEATING. HOW CAN I DETERMINE IF IT'S THE HEATING ELEMENT?

I worked on one of these not long ago that was tearing up clothes.. Took some pix

I would say take a look at your element for breaks.

Model NVLR333EVOWW Not heating up

your element has burnt in half where the sparks are coming from is the end of the element touching the metal. You need the model and serial number go to the nearest appliance parts supplier and get a new element they aren't that hard to replace. Always make sure you disconnect the power source before doing any repairs to the dryer. Good Luck

Dryer not drying clothes

If you remove the lid you will see the element on top of the drum.
There are a couple of thermal cutouts mounted on it which would be the first thing to check.
Also look for the obvious broken wires etc.
Also can you hear the fan running when machine is in operation?
Hope this helps & thankyou for using Fixya.
