In my experience red tinting is from failing cf tubes(the light tubes that make the tv come on). a repair or replacement of the cold florescent tubes is called for inside the lcd unit. how old is the tv?

There should be RCA type audio input connections near the ext-4 video cable. One red and one white. If you connect these cables you won't have to do anything in the menu.
When you are changing channels you are using the tuner of the sat reeiver. the tv does not know you are changing a channel . It is just receiving a constant signal from the SAT receiver. I would suspect a problem with the receiver. Try another one first .
