Hi, EVacuumStore.com sells a good selection of parts for the EL6985. If they don't have the parts you are looking for, try BizRate.com, which has links to a lot of different parts (including heads and brushes).

If this solution was helpful to you, please consider rating it. Thanks!

Power head not working

Hi, it sounds like your motor is gone. That was the sound i had from my dyson dc07 animal i took it apart and found that the brushes had burnt the armature on the motor. I ordered a new motor and fitted it back together with the help from an espares video. I bought a genuine dyson motor they come in a black box and it is a lot cheaper than buying a new dyson. It was the popping sound that i had .Hope this is of some help to you. Always unplug the hoover when working on it.

How do I change the belt on a Bissell Powerforce model 3522-1?

this is how you do it Lower handle and place vacuum on floor so you can see bottom of power head. Examine the power head to remember what it should look like when finished. Unscrew the four screws (Phillips screwdriver). Lift off cover. Lift out brush. Remove belt from brush and motor shaft. Place new belt around motor shaft, then around brush just prior to reinserting brush. Make sure the belt is placed correctly. Reinsert brush in slots. Rotate manually toward motor a few time to center the belt. Replace cover and screws. Tighten securely. Check cover to make sure it's properly secured.

I have a Harmony vacuum and need it only for bare floors. The attachment I have seems to be too rough on the floors. I just need a simple attachment with soft bristles for a bare floor that will fit this...

Take the lower portion of your wand to a vac shop and ask for a universal fit wide floor brush with NATURAL bristle. The soft bristle is much better quality and will clean deeper into grooves in your wood floor or and tiled area.

Kirby g4 problem

1. Take the brush roll and belt off the vacuum. Put the head back on the vac.
2. Turn it on and see if the bag inflates with good power. Does it sound normal? This will tell you if the problem is with the motor. If you have a good inflation of the bag and a bad noise in the motor, you need to take it in for service. If the motor is fine, you need a new spinning brush assembly.

The screw heads of the brush roll face towards the floor so you can adjust them while the brush is in the vacuum. When you turn them clockwise the brush comes down and gets closer to the floor for better carpet cleaning. You should also change the belt on that vac once a year. Just because the belt isn't broken doesn't mean it's o.k. Once they stretch out the power from the motor is lost and the brush won't clean anything.

the problem could be with the power head itself or the hose providing the power. If you can turn the unit on from the handle, then its not the hose and you need to get a new power head..
