TV turns off by itself & won't turn back on til unplugged, then plugged back in

I've had the Panasonic 50" Plasma TV TH-42PX75U for 2 months & now its starting to shut off on its own (no picture or sound, completely off) after an hour or two. The red light in the lower left corner just blinks & won't let me turn tv back on until I unplug it for a few seconds, then plug it back in. Even if I wait a whole day I have to unplug it, then plug it back in. If I unplug it, then plug it back in & turn it on seconds after, it will stay on for a few minutes, then shut off again. Help!! Spent way too much money on this thing for it to fail on me!!

I have a 47 inch flat screen Panasonic. Never any problems, I have had it for about 5 years. My wife was blow drying her hair in the bathroom and suddenly the television (bedroom) went out as if someone turned it off. I plug it into different outlets and it stays on for meer seconds then won't turn on unless the socket is changed. I don't know how to open the front mesh part to try and look at the control board without really forcing the tight sides open. Frustrated!

Last night while watching a movie, my plasma went black! I noticed that the red light just kept blinking, but I couldn't shut it off completely with my remote nor the button on the plasma. I've unplugged it and plugged it back in, but get the same results. I just a had technician come and replace the power supply two days ago due to a high-pitched sound... coincidence??? I'm without a tv until Tuesday and today is Thursday!

I have a panasonic plasma also and it had shut off a MONTH ago and still is not working. i however bought it from best buy and had purchased an extended warranty and the geek squad had come out today to be exact and replaced the A board. well turns out that was not it. hes going to try the POWER SUPPLY!! he ordered the part but also said that panasonic can authorize me a number to get a new tv. i did call them they are due to call me back. still waiting buts its only been a few hours. in the mean time. i have been without tv for a MONTH!! and i have a 6 yr old!! couldnt watch tv on christmas morning and i wont have it on new years either!! but panasonic did say they would make it right if i couldnt get it fixed. because a year ago when i purchased it, i got it home and what do ya know...it wouldnt come on, so i took it back the same day to best buy and they replace it with a new one. and a year later this one goes off all a sudden and wont come back on. so they said they would make it right to stand behind their name!! we will see.....to be continued...

I have a 52 inch Panasonic Plasma TH-42PX75U that I purchased 14 months ago. 2 months over the warranty. We were just watching the television and the TV seemed to turn off, but the red light next to the power button is continously blinking. Never done this before! I've tried unplugging it as well as all the HDMI cables hooked up and still can get NO picture or sound, the light just keeps blinking. I have a 3 and a 4 year old that when they wake up in the morning will be freaking out. Spent way too much money on this for this to be happening!!!!!! Any HELP is much appreciated!!!

If you have a T.V that won't work turn it off then turn it back on.I know some of you can't turn back on your t.v.I agree that you get Armstrong. There T.Vs work always,it you have a T.V from Armstrong and it's broken. They will repair it for free! Thats amazing don't you think? Well you can tell me or if you don't want to thats o.k to. Now if it doesn't work get a new T.V from Armstrong. To get them go to Walmart. And when you get one and bring it home. After that you can ask for HD channels if you want to.

Well, first your model number is the 42 inch, but I digress...

I had a similar problem with a Viewsonic 27 inch, with the blinking power light on a failed power-up. It turned out that replacing the power transformer was the ticket. However, as I have the 50 inch Panasonic plasma, I know that the transformer is built into the set itself. I'd still suggest that this is what needs replacing though, as this is different from a set being on but having no picture.

SOURCE: Panasonic TH-42PX75U Blue Screen

This could be a reception problem of the cable transmission or the cable box if used. Are you using cable or SAT box. Tv goes to blue screen if signal is weak automatically.

How to reset tv

hi Tracie,
is the set making a clicking noise?
is the power light flashing on the front?
or no power light at all just dead?
if the set is just dead, just put your ear to the back vents can you hear like a very faint screaming noise and can you smell and burning in the vent?
if so it just could be capacitors on the power board.
if its clicking the that will need a service kit on the power supply board.
if the power led is flashing then you will need to count how many flashers from start to finish when you first turn set on.
hope this helps.

Our Panasonic 50" TH 42PX75U

well it sounds like something fried inside the tv. In my experience, this sounds like your y-sustain board went bad. it could be your video board also. considering todays value of the 50" panasonic plasma, it will be cheaper to replace it, unless you are willing to spend around $300 to get it fix at a shop.
good luck

I have a Panasonic plasma TV model# TH-42PX75U --- here is a link to Panasonic web site for this model...

Unfortunately your going to have to have it serviced by an Authorized Panasonic Dealer. Independent shops will not be authorized to order parts without the consent of Panasonic. They are rough to deal with.

Panasonic plasma tv doesn't turn on, red light flickers twice

hi look for any swollen capacitors, also plasma's do suffer from poor solder joints on the power board, so check for any rings around the solder pads, test the voltages on the white connectors with a meter the voltages will be written along the connector, thanks

Panasonic TH-42PX75U won't turn on

Your powerboard is damaged, and need to be replaced.

Sometimes it appear the TV is working again with no problem but it is only a matter of time for the board to get completely damaged.

Panasonic th-50pz85u problem

My problem turned out to be silly but simple. I recently took my TV off the wall and mounted it on a stand alone platform. I snaked the power plug through the back tube and left too much tension at the entry point for power. If you leave the slightest tension the female connector will jiggle and it will shut off. It normally takes 3 minutes before you can retry and then the problem persists. Try allowing more slack and/or buying a new power connector to make sure the plug connects correctly. Good Luck!
