Ai got an old computer and it it work but it show me an error with American Megatrends

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty

make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty ?

even something as small as an electrical extension or a faulty fan lead can cause this problem

a computer needs all of the data and electrical current to travel through every working device and to have an end to be able work properly

motherboard and a hard drive any leads between them will fail before your motherboard or your hard drive if its a flat ribbon 40 pin type IDE replace it this will be the first to fail check all electrical extensions make sure they are securely seated even the cd/dvd floppy drives need to have current go through make sure these drives are working

make sure the CPU central processing unit has thermal paste and dust free and is securely seated

make sure your computer ram modules are securely seated with no dust in sockets also Cmos battery has charge with no dust in the socket some motherboards cmos batteries are soldered in
hope this helps you

On boot up on my Dimension 3100C I receive the following error message: Drive 1 not found:Parallel ATA, PATA-0 (PRI IDE Master) Alert! chipset heat sink not detected System halted!

first off your going to ewant to hit f2 or f12 to get into setup and you are going to want to change boot oder to your hard drive. i then would open the comoputer up by taking the side of the case off and checking your cpu. u are going to wanna make sure there is a heatsink or fan securly on your cpu. if not this could over heat and burn your cpu up. heat sinks look like thisbadboy616.png

When I was trying to boot the system the following error is getting flashed on my screen and asking me to press F4 to continue. pri master hard disk: S.M.A.R.T. command failed

this is a warning your hard drive is about to fail
you could run the check disk utility
click start run type cmd then type chkdsk/r/f which will scan for and attempt to repair any bad sectors and automatically fix any corrupt files on your hard drive then defragment your hard drive
hope this helps

PRI Master hard disk: s.m.a.r.t command failed

Hi,

the hard drive/disc, on the computer may be failing and would need to be replaced soon.

If the computer works fine aside from this error message, you can go into bios / computer setup / cmos.

And adjust the settings so that S.M.A.R.T. Is turned off or Disabled and you shouldn't receive the error message.

Your computer will say when you press the power button, on the screen along with other text, press XX button to enter setup. Note that is right when the power is turned on, if you see windows logo you have waited too long try again.

In setup or bios, you need to look for "SMART Monitoring" and set it to disabled. The name and options may be diffrent on diffrent brands.

Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thank you,
Ekse
