The TV is turning off on it's own. Neither the remote or the power button helps, the only way to get the picture back is to bang on the area where the Action and TVVideo buttons are. Then few seconds later it can disappear again, only fix again is to hit the TV, but then it works for a week or two without issues. I was thinking that this is due to a faulty power relay, but I am not 100% sure, and don't know how to fix it.
Any help is very appreciated, I am close to throwing the TV out. And of course all this started a month after our extended warranty ended.

Re: Panasonic CT-27D12D turning off on it's own
It sounds like a DRY SOLDER somewherein the PC board where the POWER SUPPLY located , I suggest , if your HANDY with this procedure, Im sure you can get it fix , FIRST lets remove the back cover to get inside the TV ( if TV was recently turn ON , you need to unplug it and wait till the next day to do procedure , cause the picture tube acts like a BIG capacitor reserving electricity, cause we goona need to remove that big RED round rubber plug to the tube ) . to make it short , you need to remove the PC BOARD and look for any dry solder , and resolder it ,that will take care of this problem

hi,disconated from AC main. if you know bit of repairing tv and soldering? this what to look for main power board.
1 x dry joints
2 x leaky capacitors
just remember when changing cap's make sure to use the 105' and same value.
no remote but tv was working with front power key? unplug from ac outlet and plug back and listen for any type of indication (noise or chirp) that something energizes inside if theres nothing then suspect a power supply problem, main fuse blown, shorted low volt rectifiers other components could be at fault.
I have a Panasonic CT-27D12D with the exact same symptoms with the exception that my LOCK SET was OFF. I call the Panasonic technical servicxe and they had me to press simultaneously the "POWER" and "ACTION" buttons on the TV for about 5 seconds. A Self Check screen appear with OK's beside a list of functons checked. Next I was told to turn OFF the TV for about 5 seconds then turn it back ON and see if I could enter my Lock code. It worked. The procedure apparently reset everything.
To turn off the "stuck" pip on a Panasonic tv without a remote, turn off the tv. Then hold down the "Action" button on the front of the tv and press the power button. This will activate a reset and self check of the systems and voila! The pesky pip screen will be gone! This is on an approximately 10 year old regular crt "CT-xxxxx" series tv.
