Question about Rockford Fosgate Punch 500a2 Car Audio Amplifier

2 Answers

Fried 3 amps. Is it my car? 93 mustang gt. I had my original amp Rockford Fosgate punch [email protected] for about 8 years then the whole system got stolen. Bought the same one on Ebay and it was fine for a few months then one channel went out. A few weeks later channel 2 went out. I had a punch 200#4 for the interiors that went out around the same time. The [email protected] wont power on anymore. I replaced the [email protected] with another Ebay one, worked fine for maybe 2 weeks then it started popping while the radio was turned off. I tested the amp on wire and it did not have power with the radio off so I dont know how it was popping, but it was loud. Now the amp wont turn on at all. I tried running the amp on wire directly to the 12v, tested all powers and ground but it wont power on at all. Do I need to stop buying amps on Ebay? Or could it be something in my car's electrical system? Maybe a spike or a short? If I bought a capacitor does it even out the voltage?

Make sure you run your ground and power wires on one side of the car and the rca's on the other, keep them sepparate. if you have all wires running to your amp(rca's/12v power/remote), then you run the chance of either getting interference from the alternator, or if you have a pinched wire(usually by the door step) it may short with your battery wire. Double check your rca's and make sure they're ok and also check for corrosion on your wires.

You mentioned that the whole system was stolen. My question to you is did you replace any of the system wiring that originally was in the car? Please understand that when thieves steal they don't exactly take their time and leave your stuff in a very nice manner. if you do not have your RCA and speaker wires on opposite sides away from where your power cables are you will definitely pick up noise off of your alternator through the lighting electrical system. you could easily have a short in your r_c_a cables where they pulled or strained as they were taking your first equipment. Cheaper to replace cables than major audio components.

SOURCE: No end caps, what are they

The end caps screw on to both ends to hide the cables and wires. Not required unless you don't wat to see any wires in a surface mount type install. Does not affect performance

SOURCE: connect rockford fosgate amplifier & speaker together

Assuming your P3 has a single voice coil (it will have only one place to plug your wires into) you will be running this in a bridged mode. You will take the left (+) coming off the amp and plug it into the (+) on the P3. Then take the right (+) from the amp and plug it into the (-) on the P3. This will make your amp push 500 watts to your sub. Now on the amp make sure your adjustments are as follows: Signal input switch is set to unbalanced for RCA input. Left Phase switch is set to 0. Right phase switch is set to 180. your X-card should be set to low pass. And adjust the gain for both R and L equally so it has equal power from both channels.

I TAKE IT THAT YOU ARE REQUESTING A SOURCE FOR A PAIR OF ENDCAPS FOR YOUR PUNCH-200IX. IF THIS IS THE CASE, I SUGGEST THAT YOU CHECK EBAY ON A WEEKLY BASIS AS I AM SURE AFTER SOME TIME, YOU WILL SEE A PAIR LISTED. THERE IS ALSO A SELLER ON EBAY THAT HAS MANY OF THE LOGOS FOR THE MANY DIFFERENT MODELS THAT CAN BE PLACED ON ANY OTHER MODEL ENDCAPS FROM THE SAME SERIES (DSM, IX, X2, ETC. LET ME KNOW IF I MISUNDERSTOOD YOUR REQUEST......V

How do u bridge the rockford fosgate p325.1?

Hello... sorry you are having a problem. If you are running the 325.1, that amplifier is strictly a mono-block amplifier (1 channel) so it is not possible to bridge it. There are 2 speaker connections on the amp but both positives and negatives are connected on the circuit board in the amp. Hope this helps. Good luck with your venture.

I have a old 2001 rockford fosgate 2 channel p5002 model in great condition just need to know how many watts is it and which subwoofers are compatible to this amp? thanks

Your amp is rated at 500 watts. Here is the break down of your wattage.

125x2 at 4 ohms
250x2 at 2 ohms
500x1 at bridged 4 ohms

When hooking up the amp make sure to use 4 gauge power and ground wire.

I have a rockford fosgate punch P325.1 subwoofer mono amp that blows a fuse every time i start the car. I have a second pioneer amp but that works with no problems. How can i fix this?

Is it the correct size fuse ? Is it the power fuse or remote ? Either way check your connections going into the amp . Try this hook your other amp to the set of wires for the rockford if that amp has a problem its a wireing problem if not chances are its an interal problem on the rockford . Hope this helps !

I need to wire up a rockford fosgate punch hx2 12" subwoofer to a 500 watt single channel amp and i need to know how to wire the dual voice coil properly ??

Wire it in a series. One wire from amp positive to one positive speaker terminal. One wire from amp negative to negative speaker terminal. This should leave one positive and one negative termianl on the sub. Use one additonal wire to connect these two, this wire should not be connected to anything else other than the two remaining terminals. This will allow you to have the music up louder with higher amp settings without having to worry about blowing the speaker as easily.

I get a better sound with my 250.2 than with my 500a2

Rockford Fosgate was bought out over 10 years ago. the amps you have are from that era. Its probable that the 250.2 was made before the change over, and is just a better quality amp. the a series amplifiers were some of the first produced by the "new" Rockford Fosgate, and they sucked, along with most of their products since.
