The clock is working fine, but the digital readout has faded and is almost too light to read.

Then plug it in to a different plug because that means that it is plugged into a plug that only works when that light is on

I can't get the alarm to play the radio either. If room lights are on, clock display is on, and radio will play when alarm time is reached. BUT - if room lights are off, clock display goes off and buzzer sounds when alarm time is reached. I have tried with display on all 3 brightness levels. What the Heck??? A clock display that turns off in the dark, and alarm that only buzzes if it is dark???

My sony radio does not work after plugging into a 220v outlet

If you're lucky, you blew a fuse. If you're not, you blew a transformer. Either way, it will need to go to a service center. However, ask for an estimate as it may be cheaper to just replace it than fix it.
