Washing machine will fill with water but motor just hums

Sounds like the motor can't turn. Try taking the belt off and start it it the mortor runs the motor is ok. Then try turning pump it may be locked up or something stuck in it. If the motor don't run replace it. If it is huming it is geting juce and trying to start. If the belt is turning anything else try to turn it too. Good Luck

Why doesn't it fill or run?

motors don't hum unless there is a faulty start /run capacitor in the circuit
the hum can be from a faulty water control solenoid
could be a faulty program control board
call in a technician and get a quote

Motor is running but won't agitate and belt is on ? I can hear the motor humming and it will fill up but it wont agitate.

Check drum turning by hand ok not sticky sounds like could be motor if it hums and no turn..

Have a whirlpool washer that now hums when I turn the cycle on, no water just a hum

I had a similar problem - had to get a technician out - there was a valve at the back of the machine that allows the machine to fill. It had split (apparently its a common problem? there are separate valves for hot and cold water, so I'm not sure if using a different cycle choice (ie cold only), may let the machine fill?). 10 minute fix job

The hum sound is coming from the motor that is probably bad and needs replacement. Hope you understand...the washer fills with water which indicates that the control and the water inlet valve are both fine however, as after this you hear a hum sound it means that the motor is bad.
