I have a samsung WFA338AW front loading washing machine which has worked great for the last year but since i left some towels in there that got mildewy i now can't get the mildew smell out of the chamber. i have tried the silvercare with hot water and bleach no good. Used vinegar. No good. Used borax. No good. Help! what will get the smell out? it's not the rubber stripping

It seems you need to have a new sealing rubber fitted. IN THE MEANTIME, if the knocking happens again when the spin starts, stop the machine, let the washing drop to rest, and then start it again, the re-positioning of the fabric inside the drum should even out. Also, do not load with say.. only towels, that way the weight is one sided and will make the drum spin in an uneven way.

i would grab a towel and check the pump for grit
and things that dont belong
may not be the actual problem but thats whered id start

This is probably happening because the clothing is being left damp in the washer. When it is warm during the summertime mildew will grow very quickly in the towels. On front load washers you need to leave the door open when not in use to keep mildew from growing. You should wipe out behind the inner seal any moisture when you are done doing laundry. This is an issue for most front loaders. Some front loaders have a clean washer cycle that uses bleach to sanitize the drum. Other washers like the Samsung have a block of silver and release silver ions in the wash to sanitze the clothes.

try cleaning the drainage filter located under the front bottom panel.

I can a very simple part called the motor coupler...you can find the part at www.repairclinic.com. It costs 13.95. I am fixing my washing machine today, as this happened before and was the answer. Goodluck

if its a new washer call and have them trade it out for another one.

I had this problem last year. I was not using HE detergent. The other detergent was causing soap scum to build up in the drain hoses. After they were cleaned (it took more than one time taking it apart and cleaning), and we started using HE detergent, it worked fien with no odor.

There is a capacitor linked to your motor by wiring.. That capacitor is most likely the fault... It is normally a 400vac 12UF(J) capacitor

Towels are heavy so it likely became unbalanced and triggered a shutdown.
