Its a Plasma so it likely has 2 sustain boards--one for top half of screen and another for the bottom. Some brands use different names but this is likely the issue here.
You may have one or two problems, the power supply has failed or the Y-Sustain board has failed also. The more common problem is the Y-Substain board if fails the most in plasma television, next comes the power supply then the X-substain board, My best solution for you is to check the power supply first and consider ordering the Y-Board also, the PS is usually the center board and the Y-Board is to the left of it. The X- Board is on the right side..
Hello Depending how wide the line is their could be two possible causes.
I have two questions for you.
1. How wide is the line.
2. Does it run from top of screen to bottom of screen?
If the line is thin a single strait line then it is possible the PDP has gone Bad (Panel). (Screen). The screen will to be replaced.
If the line is at least 2 or more inches wide then its a buffer board which can be replaced. LG calls this board Hand insert Boards or display driver boards..
Air 2 is the source it's looking at for a signal - - where is the signal plugged into? and are you able to change the input or source to look at another?

Depending on what source you are using, this is possible. Most digital sources are set and cant be changed by the tv leaving black bars. Though video, svideo and component should allow multiple masking and cropping modes to strech the picture.
These black lines on the plasma screens are very fixable. There is a dry solder joint on a circuit board at the bottom of the plasma that needs resoldered. There are 6 or 7 "ribbons" along the bottom of the screen that correspond to vertical sections of the display, so you just follow the black vertical line down to figure out which one is faulty. I just performed this fix successfully on my first attempt on a Gateway plasma, but it will work on most plasma's, specifically Hitachi, gateway, LG, Hyundai, & Akai. I think they may all have LG boards, my gateway did.
I can't really describe very well what to do, but I assure you it is fixable. If anyone is near nashville, I might be able to help you out. My email is [email protected].
