You don't...format means completely erase and optimize card. If they had simply been deleted, there exists recovery software that you could have used.

Hello

OK, well, if the pictures was on the memory card, you have 2 options.

The fist option:

Download THIS.

Download this free tool and run it on you card and it should be able to recover all pictures provided that you have not used the card since formatting. I recommend using a card reader for this.

After downloading and running (no installation required) , simply select deep scan and your memory card and it will start scanning, To recover a found file , right click it and select save.

Please note that the file names will probably not be available and also that some of the properties of the photo like date taken could be lost.

Second option:

Remove the memory card from the camera so that you will be able to access the internal memory. Follow THESE steps to transfer the photos from your internal memory to your computer. These steps should be followed without the memory card in the camera.

Please let me know when you have recovered your pictures safely or contact me if you need further assistance.

Andrea

Re: problem with viewing with memory stick duo

I'm regretfully informing you that this is a symptom of a memory card that is starting to quit working. I would suggest you to immediately back-up the remaining pictures into your computer or into another memory card, then reformat your problem memory card.

There are some bad sectors in the memory card that's why you could only view some of the pictures save to it. Sometimes, reformatting the memory card would work for only couple of weeks then you will get the same problem. It's better to be safe..back up the remaining pics then reformat the card.

Have a great day!

Accidently Reformatted SD card and need important pictures back

you can recover photos from reformatted sd card with a professional photo recovery program, here's how you can do it
1. Do not save any new file to memory card.
2. Connect your card to computer. You should see memory card shown as a drive letter (like H:) in My Computer.
3. Download recovery software, recommended asoftech photo recovery (simply because i was using it and it worked), download the program from
http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Back-Up-and-Recovery/Asoftech-Photo-Recovery.shtml
4. Install and open the photo recovery program, select your memory drive, and click 'Start' button to start scanning process which will find your lost photos.

Xd memory card

A card access error may indicate that an xD-Picture Card memory card is in a write-protected condition. xD-Picture Card memory cards have a special protection feature to ensure that your pictures are kept safe. NOTE: During this condition, you can still use the printer for printing and saving photos from the xD-Picture Card to a secure location, such as the computer hard drive. To resolve this error, try the following:
  • Reinsert the xD-Picture Card memory card into your camera and turn on the camera. In most cases, the camera automatically makes the necessary changes.
  • Reformat the xD-Picture Card memory card. See the documentation that came with your camera for instructions on reformatting the memory card. Note that this process erases the pictures currently saved to your memory card. To save these pictures, transfer them to the computer before reformatting the memory card. Once you reformat the memory card, transfer those photos back to the memory card using the computer.

Card Setup..

Hi, Chances are your memory card has been corrupted and is no longer readable by your camera hence the camera asking you to "reformat". You have to perform the reformat to hopefully make the memory card usable again. To try and recover the pictures inside the memory card, you have to remove it, insert into a suitable memory card reader attached to a PC and make use of a recovery software. The software maybe available from the memory card manufacturer or a third party such as Smart Recovery (www.softwarepatch.com), Flash Memory card recovery utility (www.filesrecovery.org). Hope this be of help to you. Post back how things are or should you need additional info. Good luck and Kind regards.
