Just bought lg 8000btu with energy saver mode. When in this mode the ac comes on every 2 minutes for only 30 seconds. Is this normal? we have the temp set to 75but it seems to do this also when the temp is set lower to 70.

IT is three buttons not two. Cooling Off mode (also called Shop mode), is designed for use by retailers when they display refrigerators on the shop floor. In Cooling Off mode, the refrigerator's fan motor and lights work normally, but the compressors do not run, and the refrigerator and freezer do not get cold. To start Cooling Off mode, press and hold the Energy Saver button, the Freezer button and the Lighting button for 5 seconds during normal operation. The refrigerator chime sounds and O-FF appears on the display. To cancel Cooling Off mode, press and hold the Energy Saver button, the Freezer button and the Lighting button again for 5 seconds, until the chime sounds. The Energy Saver mode is activated by using the hand held remote control, that comes with the unit. Pressing the Energy Saver button activates it. Once activated the fan will shut OFF when the the compressor does. After which, about every 3 minutes the fan will turn ON to check the room air to determine if cooling is needed.

It sounds like, you're missing the hand held remote control?

If this is a window or wall unit. Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF. Unplug the unit and wait 12-15 minutes. Then, plug the unit back in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Set the controls on anything except energy saver. If the unit then operates as it should, let it run for at least an hour before switching it to Energy Saver Mode. If that's the way you want to operate it. If it doesn't restart and run like it should or it shuts OFF on Energy Saver Mode, there is a problem with one of the setting sensors and needs to be replaced.

Also, while you have the unit unplugged, check the outlet to make sure it's still active. You can do this by plugging in a lamp. If the lamp doesn't work, the circuit breaker for that outlet has been tripped in your home's circuit breaker panel and needs to be reset. When you plug the AC unit back in and it trips the breaker again, there is an electrical short or overload in the AC Unit.

Please keep in mind everything I suggested is based on your AC being a 120 volt window or wall unit.

You are refering about energy saving function I thinks. To energise this function, surf through its menu and come towards energy saver.

This power saving feature reduces the backlight

brightness level. The options are:

• OFF-the feature is off and the power consumption

is normal.

• LOW-power saving level is low and the backlight

brightness level is lower than normal.

• HIGH-power saving level is high and the backlight

brightness is set to the lowest level.

1 Use the CURSOR Up or Down keys to highlight

Energy Saver. Press ENTER.

2 Use the CURSOR Up or Down keys to select Off, Low,
or High.

NOTE:The Energy Saver settings level varies with
the Picture / Sound mode.

Go back and check the ENERGY SAVER preference in SYSTEM PREFERENCES, there's a selectable option for both Battery and Power adapter. Your computer is smarter than you think, just dig around.

if you have another computer available try to hook the monitor to it...that will help you determine if it is your monitor or your computer which has the problem
