Hi there i have a copy of My First Amazing World

Hi there i have a copy of My First Amazing World Explorer 2 which I am now trying to run on Vista. I keep getting this error message: [1058]: The sound decompression software has not been installed properly. Please run setup and try again. This program will now terminate. now I have already seen a couple of patches for this problem on this site but none of them seem to do any good and I think this may be because they are designed to fix it for the xp. Is there a patch that will work with vista? many Thanks supercali2

To resolve this issue:

  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Services.
  2. Double-click the service that did not start.
  3. Click the Log On tab.
  4. Verify that the service has not been disabled for the hardware profile that you are using. If it has, click Enable.
  5. Click the General tab. Verify that the service has not been disabled in the Startup Type box. If it has, click Automatic to have it start when you start the computer.

New computer, Windows vista does not accept our DK learning discs

Hello acdangerfield

I have checked on the DK Multimedia website, and these programs should be compatible with Vista.

One thing you can try is this:

1. Navigate your way to "My Computer" > "Local Disk (usually C:) > "Program Files" > and then the folder the program is stored in.

2. Right-click on the program launch icon and left-click on properties.

3. Click on the "Compatibility" tab.

4. Check the box that says "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"

5. Click on the arrow pointing down and select a previous version of Windows. I would recommend XP.

6. Click on "OK", and try to run the program again.

I hope this helps. If not, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Unsupported 16-bit application

You could try to run in compatibility mode by right clicking the program executable file and choosing properties, once that comes up look for a tab that says compatibility.

You may have to try different settings to get it to work. Win95 or 98 mode should. The display settings may help as well.
