My mother-in-law has a Gibson self-cleaning oven, electric range, a few years old. The oven "Lock" light is flashing, like it is waiting to go into the cleaning cycle, and the latch on the oven door is stuck out causing the oven door not to shut. How do I get the light to go off and the latch to go back where it should be so the oven door can shut tight? Thanks for any help you can give regarding this problem.

try to disconnect power to the unit for a few minutes the plug it back in. this may clear any errors with the control board and allow the door lock to reset as well. If this does not do the trick then i would have to check the door lock motor, the switches for the doorlock mechanism and also check to see if the control board is sending power down to the door lock motor.
Does the oven light switch work? hold the button in and see if the door lock moves.
Did this occur after you ran a self-clean cycle?

try holding in on the door latch plunger the one that turns the oven light off when you close the door then press start then cancel and inspect the door plunger for any damage

Hello Brian Pelletier, thanks for your inquiry!
I understand that you are having issues with your door not locking upon using the self-clean feature. It sounds like a possible issue with your EOC (Electronic Oven Control) or dock latch assembly. I would suggest unplugging your range if possible or flipping you breaker for ten minutes to perform reset. If the light continues to flash you may want to seek assistance from a professional for proper diagnosis and repair. -Matt
