VISTA and Pioneer DVD DVR-K17

My drive (Pioneer DVD DVR-K17) "seen" in BIOS. Also I can boot from this DVD drive. it's all ok.

My new lap top (SONY VAIO VGN-CR35G) running Vista home premium no longer reads CDs or DVDs I found this (Did not load driver SystemRootsystem32DRIVERScdrom.sys) in the boot log.

VISTA reinstalled three times - a result is identical - she does not see cd rom at once

Any advice would be gratefully recievd.

    (1) In the list of devices for setting any CD-ROM is absent and a producer PIONEER is even absent. Therefore this undertaking failed without the presence of additional driver (with *.inf file ).

    (2) Device manager does not contain what - or devices of DVD in general and even hidden, that it is possible it was to play enable/disable.

    (3) VISTA Operating system - original, supplied together with my new lap top SONY VAIO VGN-CR35G. Moreover, for the last time I reinstalled her without setting additional publicity software from SONY (virgin clean setting of one VISTA)

(1) Try to detect manually from control panel "ADD new hardware".

(2) Check the device manger for DVD is not disabled

(3) Check vista is geniue and not tweaked too much

If any recovery cd is given use that reinstall the labtop, before that you take all back up of data.

You can try with installing Winxp.

there is some thing wrong with your installation Vista DVD, check sony site for any additional driver for mother board. If you can brow some DVD and you can try.

Hello olejonok,
I ran into this problem while helping a friend with her laptop. Here is the solution:

1) Visit the following webpage:

2) Download "SOOOTH-01106200-US.EXE"
3) Run the program and follow the instructions, then reboot.
There are several registry filters which, when removed and the system rebooted, re-enable your drive.

I have the same problem. Has anyone found a solution? I have an HP Notebook dv6700 with a Pioneer DVDRW [DVR-K17B ATA Device]. For the past few months I haven't been able to burn anything to disc. I can't find any firmware updates online. I'm not sure if I need to buy a new drive?

Thank you in advance for any feedback.

Pioneer dvd-rw dvr-k17 problem

This sounds like you have a Virus or Some other type or Malware that has corrupted your drivers. Please Scan with Avast (, Spybot S&D(, and Adaware ( all of witch have free versions.

Also it may be that your driver got corupted some othere way if it still does not work try roleing back your driver or updateing it.

Thank you,

P.s. if that does not work please come back and make sure you give the info that you have

scanned with the above and if you do not reply in this question then make sure you include all

that info with all the info you have already put here. Good Luck!
