Please help! I have a Canon Powershot A460. When I take pictures in macro mode, they are all flashed out, so bright even if taken indoor. I can barely make out an image. But if I take normal shot, results seem normal. I have read the manual -basic & advanced- but I can't find the right solution. This does not happen before.

Try going into the M(anual) mode on the selector dial and then turn off the flash (press the right side of the controller button until you see the lightning bolt with a bar through it). The macro shooting option should still be available in the manual mode.

When i take picture, the picture is white n some time become very very bright, but if take video is ok.

this can be usually associated with your white balance in still camera mode.
Check to see your white balance is set correctly or just set it to auto. Also make sure the mode you are in it set. (ie. indoor, outdoor, auto, speed)

My Canon PowerShot A460 cam is working well until yesterday, the biggest festival here in our place took place. teh flash, the lcd screen, etc is working... but, when i took pictures, the lcd screen turns...

Please try and reset the mode of the image to see if the LCD does not go blank when shown to higher light. Also if there is no issue with the indoor pictures then it is possible that the auto light detection is giving a higher value to reset the image balancing. Shift from Auto to manual mode and try.

There is no image when it is in camera mode but can playback pictures taken before the problem occured. when i take pictures no image in the lcd monitor and no picture taken when i check in playback

A stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open).

To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help.

Now the A460 is not capable of taking 15 second exposures as recommended for the fix. Instead try setting the camera to manual mode, turn off the flash, got to a darkened room, and take a picture. Open the battery door while the red and yellow light are flashing. If after many tries this does not work, then consider trying Fix #5a on the site. But do so with the camera turned off and the lens retracted to lessen the chance of damaging the lens mechanism.

No image display on camera mode

There are different settings. You can view the past photos because you are using the viewer for that, but you have a setting off in the menu. You need to turn on view photo or preview photo after picture taken. I am not sure what it is in the Canon line, but look in your manual for the setting.

Use of macro digital feature

hi,let me just inform u that the macro mode is only for outdoors. So on the side of the camera u will find a sliding switch.Just slide it to the opposite direction to turn off the macro mode.Since u wanted to take pictures of jewelry pieces, turn on the flash if u have one and then take a closeup shot with good lighting conditions. If its too bright then use only the flash,if u r not satisfied with the quality then use only lights and then take a pic.Still face any prob plz get back to me.
