My problem is very similar. It seems that when I put a battery that has too little power, it tries to turn on then turns off which is normal for a nearly dead battery, but when I put in subsequent batteries, even full ones, it does the same thing. Only reformatting my player seems to work, though I am loathe to do so if there's another way that doesn't force me to lose important files. My problem is very similar. Use recovery tool from Creative labs, click at the site at support, you'll find here the recovery tool, this will reflash te firmware for all types creative labs mp3 players.
This should take you directly to the V100 manual. If it does not, you may have to go to the main Creative support site http://support.creative.com/, select "Support", select "MP3 Player", select link at bottom that says "If your product is not listed above, please click here", from the table select MUVO and then select MUVO V100 under archived products (don't forget to select "Next"). Select the Quick Start User Guide at the top of the page to download the guide. Please note that you may have to save the guide and then select "Unblock" in properties to be able to view it (the site explains how to do that).
My MuVo was having problems until I installed the latest firmware. The
last firmware release was in July 2007. If you haven't updated the
player's firmware since then, try downloading it and installing Creative MuVo V100 Firmware 1.05.01.
You can either use Windows Media Player 10 or seek out the Creative software for this model at the Creative.com site. With WMP 10 I'd suggest you create some playlists and the drag/drop to said playlist the open sync and drag drop the playlist you wish to load. Bada bing bada boom...
Go the the Home page of Creative.com and navigate to the location for the installation software (came with player within its package). Therein you will find an expanded user manual.
