How do i get my microphone to work?

high definition audio device not plugged in

This model does not have a built-in microphone.
It has a input jack for a microphone and headphones.

the mic is above the keyboard and yes it is built in

Go into Start/ Control Panel/ Sound and Audio devices/ then click the "Voice" tab. That settings area above should help you, but if it doesn't, try Start/Help & Support & enter "microphone" & find "Troubleshooting". If that doesn't help, come back & tell us exactly what you tried so we can help more, if possible. Did your PC come with a manual? Manuals are great. :) Let us know how it goes, ok? :)

There is no Build in Mic in Both the models !

Ye s the past eleven years they all do have a mic installed. Look for a very small hole surrounding the keyboard for it will be inside there

E525 does not have a mic

If you bought a webcam, dont assume it has a microphone built in, not all of them do.. if you do have one, then make sure it isnt muted (double clicking the speaker in the system tray next to your clock, and make sure the mic isnt muted, if it isnt and you still have no sound, the microphone header on your motherboard may be connected incorectly or not at all, if you are plugging the microphone into the front of the PC, take it out and use the pink plug at the back (one one labelled with a picture of a microphone).
Check your sound preferences by double clicking the speaker icon in the corner of the monitor first. Make sure it's working there, it's in the Input Tab. Then when you are sure it's working there, go into Skype preferences and change your mic input to the appropriate mic input, and then use the Test Call to check your microphone settings to see if they work, if you hear yourself then others will be able to hear you.

go to device manager and check if there is mic internal or not-and check user manual sound section.
