After 8 days of no life at all in the laptop , having 2 computer technicians around saying it was probably the motherboard and just about to send to Sony I pressed the power button and hey presto it worked again..Guess it was just sleeping or hibernating...after all it is spring now....Actually one guy of the many forums I have visited advised just to leave the Laptop alone and perhaps it would mend itself..and hey presto he was right, although having said that I have yet to turn the laptop off and startup again..HMMMMMMM...
Sony has had a problem in older sets with-believe it or not- lack of humidity. I had one with the same problem. If it is under warentee take it back, if not-I know it sounds insane- put a large plastic garbage bag over the turned off set. Leave it that way for a couple of days. do not turn it on during this time. After a couple of days remove the bag and turn it on. If it works-that's the problem, if it doesn't- it's dying, and to expensive to fix. Surprised the heck outta' me when I tried it on my old Sony 19" set- it worked.
I had this same problem. Vizio sent someone out to replace the motherboard. It didn't fix the problem. Since it was under warranty, they replaced it with a newer model VU42L. Doesn't have this problem, but it has others.
If you purchased the TV 6 months ago, still under manufacturers warranty. They normally give customers 1 year warranty coverage.
It looks like the main board will have to be replace on this TV or fix to the component level.
Did you get this problem resoslved? I had the same issue a few months ago. I tech came by and took my TV to the shop, a few days later he said it was fixed as they needed to make some adjustments.....The TV has been fine up until a week or so ago and now the red dots have appeared again. Was wondering what happened to yours.
