I have an Aspire 5100 laptop, when I attempt to create movies using win movie maker and burn them the machine freezes up and my cpu runs at 100%, it has 4gig of ram, 120 gig hard drive. AMD dual core procce. 2.0 ghz
I have tried everything, cannot get it to work. HELP!
To prevent the computer from freezing up, make sure you are running nothing else while you are trying to burn the disk. You can also change the programs that are starting up. Hit start, run, type msconfig, go to startup, uncheck everything, restart the computer. Then try to burn the disk. Also you can run CCleaner to repair some of your registry.

This is the direct link to the Acer drivers for your Aspire 5100 series laptop. Download all of the applicable drivers and then burn them to CD and install them on the Aspire 5100.
Instead of trying to remove the internal drive, which is still useful, do what I did and buy an external DVD drive, just plug it in with a USB cable...then you still have your internal for nornal stuff and you can move the external around anywhere to take care of the heavy duty stuff...good luck..pls rate this solution.
Hi,
Try emptying your Windows temp Directory, Also you will have problems if you have 512kb memory or less.

p.s also invest in some R/W DVDs, this will enable you to try several attempts to get it right, instead of having a bin full of Disks, and a lot of frustration.
