Xerox 5837 Diagram, Fault Codes, Service Manual ??

I just purchased a Xerox 5837 copier for my local volunteer fire department and while transporting it something happened .. I called up customer service at Xerox but since we don't have a service contact they wouldn't give me any idea how to correct our problem ..
Fault Code 06-430
I would love to get my hands on a Xerox 5837 diagram, fault code sheet, and service manual but most of all I would like to fix our current situation .. all customer service would say is that it is an optical system error.
Any help would be greatly appreciated .. since I am not a techy guy very specific instructions on how to fix this issue will be important.
Thanks, Don Roach President - Fire District Board of Trustees

This problem can be expensive repair bill.
The optics motor can be bad or the small belt might be broke. Even if you replaced the motor there are other areas in diagnostics that need to be changed. A bad driver control board can cause these problems, along with some connector on the boards; they need to be re-seated.(Unplug the jacks and replug them, all) The error codes need to be removed before the machine can start. There are manuals and charts that shows the different configurations of models, these codes need to entered to the correct values with the right machine model.
A full sump bottle can cause the problem. Over or under exposed copies can shut the machine down. A old NVM chip with a old battery can have corrupted memory causing many error codes.
This machine has been out in the field for sometime, and is not a new machine. It has time against it. Rubber materials degrade in time. Plastic parts brittle and break especially around the fuser areas.
Best thing to do is, maybe call the Xerox sales person and trade this machine in for a new one. Make a good investment. Good luck.

1. Remove the glass plateform
2. Check the exposure lamp continuity, if no continuity replace it.
3. Check the exposure thermos fuse continuity, if no continuity replace it.

Hi,
The control logic sensed an error in the self test routines of the IISS PWB Ram test (06-340).

Initial action:

  • Switch off the machine power.

  • If there is other equipment close by that may be generating electrical noise or radio frequency interference, power it off also.

  • Contact Building Maintenance and have them verify the proper voltage at the machine plug.

  • Clean and inspect all corotrons for defects and ensure they are properly installed.

  • Power the machine on.

If the problem still exists:
Place a service call.

Thanks for using Fixya.
Good luck and have a nice day

I couldn't find your exact manual, but I found some that will be close. Manuals are like cars- same basic operation, different options. What I suspect happened is that the copier bulb assembly moved during transport, and some gears that drive it are locked up. Not an easy problem to fix, or reset, since there will be a slight disassembly process to reseat everything, without stripping a driving gear. This isn't going to be a job for the everyday mechanic, and you will need the service manual to do it correctly.
You can take a shot at a manual close in number, to the model you have, and maybe you'll have a chance of fixing it. I read in another blog that the 5837 is the 5340 style. Here's the manual link:
http://www.nodevice.com/manual/Xerox.html
Not sure if there is a cost, since I've never downloaded from this site.
Also, you might try to download this .pdf service manual. My Adobe's not working right since Windows updated it, but here's the link:
www.pdfound.com/pdf/xerox-5855-service-manual.html
Good luck, and hope this helps.

The first link is a pay site and the second was one that GodBlessU posted with the first solution ..

Thanks so much for trying but I'm gonna guess I'm gonna have to keep looking since I have no idea where any of the parts you mentioned are located on the copier at all :(

Thanks for the second link above, I couldn't get any relevant info from the other two but it is greatly appreciated. You said the fault codes were on the first link and I couldn't connect the two as it was for a phaser printer.

Can you tell me how the fault code 06-340 can be corrected? Customer service said it was an optical issue .. I figure there is just something that needs cleaned because it was moved and old toner probably got on something. If I had a diagram I might find where all of the optical places could be found.

Xerox 425dc service code

Hi.
The 425 dc error code refers to the department code assigned to the printer.
425 means that you have entered an invalid department code.
to fix this, you need to turn off the department codes
To do this, press the menu button so that it says machine defaults
then use the arrow down scroll button until you get department codes, then press enter
Scroll down to select off, and then press enter again.
Now press the features button to return the printer to a ready state.
You should now be able to print on the copier again.

I hope this helps you out.

When in the MO mode, I hear nothing. In the FM mode, I hear everything. I want just to listen to local FD. I have their codes loaded in. Just doesn't seem to scan the channels when in MO. What am I doing...

MO is for monitoring MOtorola trunking systems and will only work if you have programmed a system into your scanner. Most fire departments are using conventional, (FM) transmissions, not trunked systems - mainly so that volunteers and neighboring departments can follow the action and respond if needed. For a comprehensive database of active frequencies and systems in your area, visit:

www.RadioReference.com

Need the manual for your scanner? You can download and print it here:
