On a new iPAQ 111, I can't connect to a network wirelessly
I just got this HP iPAQ 111, (new from Amazon) a couple of days ago. Everything seems to be working OK, except that I can't connect to my home or office network wirelessly.
I followed the documentation - up until the place where it no longer matched what I see on the screen of the HP 111:
1. On the "Today" screen, on the iPAQ Wireless line, the WLAN box is gold-colored, indicating an "On" condition 2. I tap "iPAQ Wireless", then the "WLAN" tab. 3. The screen now shows (as it should), "Status: On". Below that is a line that says: "Network: Searching", and below that, 4 options: View WLAN Networks VPN & Proxy Settings Version Information Help 4. I tap "View WLAN Networks", and get a screen that says:
Configure Network Adaptors
My network card connects to:
(Here the choices are "Work", and "The Internet", and I choose "Work")
Tap an adapter to modify settings:
(And here I see a list of 9 possible adaptors - with no further information as to whether or not any of them might be part of my hardware.)
5. At this point I try a bunch of things, none of which seem to get me anyplace.
BTW - all of this is being done in a physical location where my laptop computer is successfully finding and connecting to my wireless home network - so there is no problem with regard to the presence of WLAN signals in the area - including a couple from my neighbor's houses!
Hopefully I've provided enough info so that you can figure out what questions to ask me in order to move forward from this point.
Re: On a new iPAQ 111, I can't connect to a network...
Have you tried resetting your iPAQ? You do that by pushing the little button on the side with the stylus. The screen will go blank for a bit, and then windows will restart. I had bought mine used, and when I got it, I had the same problem in that I never got the screen that let me select the wireless network. It fixed mine. Once it is working again, try selecting "View WLAN Networks" again, and you will see a list of networks that it can hear. If the SSID Brodcast is enabled on your wireless access point, you will see your network there. If SSID is not enabled on your WAP, you will need to type in the name of your network before it will find it.
Hope this helps. Sorry it was so late in being posted.

Are you using the factory adaptor to charge the device? The reason I ask is that some aftermarket chargers don't have the required amperage output on the USB port to charge some devices. If you are using an aftermarket charger, try purchasing one from HP directly or look for a charger with a USB port power rating of 4-5 amp. They can be purchased on eBay or Amazon for around $10.
I did not know that I needed to do a soft reboot on the PCC. Once that happened, everything loaded at once. I don't know where it came from, but it all loaded.
-you may need two people to do this,
-hold all three buttons together: START, OK, VOICE
-keep holding these buttons and push reset for 3 seconds
-let go the reset
-then let go the 3 buttons
-the Ipaq will go into CLEAN BOOT mode and start over again
always start with the simplest answer first so make sure you have WiFi turned on.
Think back, have you changed the wireless security on your router? If so you may need to re-enter the network details or add your iPAQ's MAC address to the access control list on the router.
In the bottom right-hand corner of the home screen you should have a small HP Wireless symbol, if you tap it you should get your HP Wireless control panel on screen and can 1: turn WiFi on and off, 2: manually enter the WiFi network details and 3: search for WiFi networks in range.
This problem seems to be with the wireless network itself. Perhaps it's not connected to the Internet even though you are connected to the lan. Make sure your default gateway setting is the same as that of the lan. If there is lan administrator, obatin the settings you should have from that person.
First, you have to be sure your ipaq has wi-fi feature is on and you can check on network connectivity option for any wrong setup there. According to your information, your ipaq is not recognized by your router and I agreed that your router is working normally. Try to reboot your ipaq and be sure to get wi-fi to turn on and try to connect it again. I have my Dell Axim also used Windows Mobile like Ipaq and it connected easily with no issue. The message in your to show me that you need first to identify your ipaq before you you can get it to connect to your network. I hope this help.
why are you using any Ipaq. in the year 2017.
Id love to hear why.. where are you, in India?
we in USA , i think have zero support on any Ipaq, and for sure no
service providers.
so how can this toy be used, why not buy a used smart phone and end this torrture..
The shares would be covered in the manual, lost that?
oh boy, HP does not have it now, its gone forever
you can google all week to find it , and get lucky, that be about it.
why mess with his old device? what good is it?
